Wow, Interesting guy, I've never seen any of his movies :(

Sounds like you need to go watch Master of the Flying Guillotine stat.

Master of the Flying Guillotine

Chinese Boxer

One Armed Boxer

Golden Swallow

Beach of the War Gods

One Armed Swordsman

Return of One Armed Swordsman.

I think that's all I've seen, and they're all great. If I had to order them from favorite to least favorite, that'd probably be it. I was a little underwhelmed by Return of One Armed, but even it is good and I'll watch it again.

For his lack of acting and screen fighting ability, he had as much screen presence as anyone, and made some great movies (Golden Swallow), and some great camp movies (Master of Flying Guillotine). I'm looking forward to the upcoming collection, will be great to have legit versions of One Armed Boxer and Beach of the War Gods to replace my boots of those. I haven't seen the other two movies included.

Thanks for the recommendation, I know I've seen some of his movies in the stores. Actually I may have seen the Flying Guillotine 25 years ago as a kid. People losing their heads really stuck in my head... I just read about his amazing recovery after a stroke. I hate sounding like a moron, but I was trying to find out if Jimmy really only had 1 arm, and Im still unsur :/

Killer Meteor

Besides some of the titles already mentioned in this thread, I'd also like to nominate My Son, Knight Errant, The Man from Hong Kong, Double Double Crossers and Island of Fire.

And he has two arms...I can't believe you had to ask that, it's blatantly poking up underneath his shirt!

Yep, I asked. I had no idea there were so many movies about about a 1 armed matial artist, then find out he's in all of them, thats why I asked.

No worries fatcat. If you've never seen any of his movies there's really no way of knowing how many arms he has. I've asked way stupider questions than that. Many times in fact.

There are lots of great movies listed. I'll add The Sword to that list.

Secret Executioner

Haven't seen that much of his output (got two movies of his on DVD I still need to watch BTW), but here's how I rank what I've seen:

Master of the Flying Guillotine (HK, 1976)

Beach of the War Gods (HK, 1973)

The one armed Boxer (HK, 1971)

Return of the One-armed Swordsman (HK, 1969)

Man called Tiger (HK, 173)

The first two are actually some of the most epic greatness I've seen from Asian cinema. :cool

My list would probably seem pretty common, but here goes-

1. Four Real Friends- simply his best fighting. Gam Ming stuck to what Wang was good at, and he seemed to feel the need to step it up, probably because all his co-stars were solid athletes. Good story, and the whore with a heart of gold survives, which is rare in these old school movies. Plus pretty funny moments here and there.

2.Brave and the Evil- He mixes well with the Union films look, the action is good and the photography works. Plus, he always looks a little better with a weapon.

3.The Chinese Boxer- Ground breaking, entertaining and a favorite from my childhood (or early teens). The fights look awkward now in some parts, but there's plenty of energy that never gets old.

4. Return of the One Armed Swordsman- I realize the first one was a big deal, but this one has plenty of action and cool weapons. Watch Mad Mad Sword from Cathay for a real send up of this character and Wang himself.

5.The Man From Hong Kong- Another I saw when it was released. The fighting is sloppy but it was cool when I was 15, lots of nudity and gore, LOL!

6. The One Armed Boxer- Hilarious! One of the first I ever saw, still entertaining.

7.Royal Fist-Nice plot twist, nice scene set up.

8.Ma Su Chen- Again, nice grim Boxer From Shantung alternate

9.Beach of the War Gods- Wall to wall action, rousing theme, the Samurai are not a bunch of chumps.

10. Knight Errant- Another wacky movie I caught on the big screen that had some guys from my Tae Kwon Do school in stitches.

PS Honorable mention has to go with Zatoichi and the One Armed Swordsman, which is probably one of his best made films, but not a true Wang Yu HK film, really.
