Member bobo Posted August 12, 2014 Member Share Posted August 12, 2014 hi--- i was at an antique store and i found the two vhs tape full length version of john wayne's THE ALAMO for a measly $ 5 . first time i've ever seen the full movie--it's quite a difference. so if they never agree to restore it , at least i've seen it now. i believe the tape set was released in 1989, but i'm not sure. the movie itself runs about 3 hours and 12 minutes with an overture, intermission and exit music putting it at about 3 hours and 23 minutes in total and then about a 40 minute making of with comments from the cast. it was widescreen and i have to say it seemed in excellent condition to me so i don't understand why they are having such a hard time finding a restorable copy. any way mgm should actually make this movie a priority. thanks
Member Secret Executioner Posted August 15, 2014 Member Share Posted August 15, 2014 If there's no original print (sad), I guess it would be hard to release it on DVD/BD. But why couldn't they use a VHS or LD rip for the DVD, since it exists in these formats ? Granted a VHS or LD rip doesn't look that great.
