Rothrock and Dean Meadows produced with Meadows directing. Here's the "grindhouse" promo for the film...looks brutal to me.

Kinda reminded me of a lower budget version of "Raze" which I thought was kinda brut for a chick action flick
Moderator One Armed Boxer Posted May 27, 2014 Moderator Share Posted May 27, 2014 Has anyone seen this movie? I've read mixed reviews, some say its kinda brutal and others say its a comedy. CwUL3y7s-Og This actually goes under the English title of 'Haunters', this is the first time I've seen it called 'Psychic'. It's decent enough Korean mainstream fare, although I wouldn't call it brutal. Twitch posted a review which you can check out here - http://twitchfilm.com/2011/07/nyaff-2011-haunters-review.html If you do end up checking it out and enjoying it, you may also be interested to know that Japanese director Hideo Nakata, who made the original 'Ring' movie and its sequel, is planning on filming a remake - http://twitchfilm.com/2013/07/nakata-remaking-korean-haunters-as-japanese-monster.html Ive got the Beat Takeshi Boxset with Sonatine, Violent Cop and Boiling point, i have not seen any of them yet but hear his films are brutal [Maybe someone else would shed more light on these]. Kitano's Outrage is pretty brutal. 'Violent Cop' is pretty brutal, although not explicitly so, well worth a watch though and it's the movie that put Takeshi on the map as a film maker worth watching. 'Outrage' and 'Outrage: Beyond' may fit the bill more closely as to what you're looking for, the first one in particular has some cringe worthy scenes of brutality. The movie "soo" I've heard a lot of good things about that.. It's worth a watch. The director of 'Soo' also made a relentlessly brutal movie starring Takeshi Kitano called 'Blood & Bones'. Interestingly the director is a Japan born Korean, so directed 'Soo' under his Korean name of Choi Yang-il, & 'Blood & Bones' under his Japanese name of Yoichi Sai. ''CITY OF VIOLENCE'' certainly lives up to its name-one of my favorite South Korean fight flicks! South Korean movies are fairly hard to beat when it comes to brutality in my opinion. A few more I'd strongly recommend checking out if you haven't seen them would be - New World - http://www.kungfucinema.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19444 Breathless - http://www.kungfucinema.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10526 Friend - http://www.kungfucinema.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9575 Public Enemy - http://www.kungfucinema.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10201 The Chaser - http://www.kungfucinema.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5217 A Dirty Carnival - http://www.kungfucinema.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5910 Rough Cut - http://www.kungfucinema.com/forums/showthread.php?p=192737

Member NoKUNGFUforYU Posted May 28, 2014 Member Share Posted May 28, 2014 Watch Way of the Gun with Benicio Del Toro. That is a harsh movie, if there ever was one. Yes, it's not an MA film, per se, but neither are some of the others suggested.
Member reason108 Posted May 31, 2014 Member Share Posted May 31, 2014 Ichi The Killer - unrated version. > It is not a martial arts film but is pretty brutal in its imagery. It is certainly worth checking out. Ong Bak 1 & 2 - Not much plot but lots of brutal fight scenes and, of course.... The Raid 1 & 2 - The Raid had a simpler plot but plenty of brutal fight scenes. Raid 2 more of an plot with even more brutality. That is all that I can think of for now.

Resurrection time baby @One Armed Boxer I'm actually trying to find a good version of 'Blood & Bones'. Any recommendation? Seems like it's only available on DVD just lik 'Soo'. Kind of frustrating to see as both seem to be highly appreciated by asian film fans. I have 'Soo' on my to watch list and gave it an HD upgrade with an AI software. Which surprisingly can do quite a lot with a good source. Planning to do the same with 'Blood & Bones' actually.
