best subtitles/audio for these classics?

I'm trying to gather up some materials for some custom projects and was wondering if you guys could help me out with some info.

Can you tell me which dvd versions have the best English subtitles? I know that generally speaking HKL's subs were pretty great, but these were all early releases by them that I think predated their increased effort to re-translate.
