I did not see the Clone Wars.

My fav hands down is; Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

Each movie after this, the special effects went down hill IMO.

Revenge of the sith.

Agreed. With Episode II being the next best and Episode I being the worst.

Same order that I rate them for the new trilogy.. For all six I rate them as such. Best to least.

Star Wars (It's not a"A new Hope, just Star Wars").

Empire Strikes back

Revenge of the Sith

Return of the Jedi

Attack of the Clones

Phantom Menace.

I know that Empire, is probably the best, but Star Wars was such an experience when I first saw it, that I put it first.

Episode II = worst. Cringe worthy dialogue galore. "everything here is soft and smooth". Barf.

Ep 1 had Darth Maul and that gives it the edge over 2 for me.

The Phantom Menace, definitely.

Yes, it had Jar Jar, and a slew of other problems, but at least it still felt like a Star Wars movie to me.

* Puppet Yoda looked good and moved slowly, no stupid CGI frog Yoda flipping around with a lightsaber.

* Virtually no CGI characters in lightsaber fights, just actors and stuntmen----best lightsaber battles of the whole series.

* Duel of the Fates, awesome Williams music.

* Great, real (non-CGI) location shooting of palaces and countryside in Italy.

* Pod race special effects were awesome and still hold up.

While I don't hate any of the prequels and they all had some good moments---Clones and Sith felt more like gloomy, badly acted video games in a lot of places. The less said about the romance between Anakin and Padme the better----and of course in the last two you had all of Liam Neeson's screen time replaced with Haydn Christiansen---not an improvement.

That's my take, anyways.

My six in order would be:

1. Star Wars

2. Empire Strikes Back

3. Phantom Menace

4. Return of the Jedi

5. Revenge of the Sith

6. Attack of the Clones
