The Martial Arts Kid, starring Don "The Dragon" Wilson, Cynthia Rothrock, Jansen Panettiere, Matthew Ziff, and T.J. Storm premiered in New York and Los Angeles a few weeks to rave review.

The film is planning to have a few more premieres, I am planning to reserve my ticket for the Orlando screening on October 27.

At the recent Sunshine Film Festival in St. Petersburg, the film won Best Florida Film and Matthew Ziff won Best Supporting Actor for his role of the bully Bo.

The Martial Arts Kid is planning a series of screenings in late October, but you would have to reserve tickets and they have to ensure they have enough people for the screenings.

I reserved a ticket for the October 27 screening at AMC Universal in Orlando, because that's the closest to where I live.

I just got back an hour and a half ago from the screening...if you are looking for a full-blooded film, look elsewhere. I saw the film as both a film fan AND as a parent. Director Michael Baumgarten and Kung Fu grandmaster Glenn C. Wilson (who appears as himself in the film) were at the screening tonight. Baumgarten did confirm that a sequel is still in the early stages of development, and a lot of kids in the audience asked "Can I be in the new movie?" Hahahaha...I asked about the fight scenes and James Lew and his team did it all themselves. It's clear that Wilson and Rothrock trusted Lew and it shows. But overall, this is truly a film with a message and it succeeds.

'The Martial Arts Kid' Jansen Panettiere sadly passed away over the weekend aged 28, cause of death is currently unclear -

Heard about this too...was shocked. He took a backseat from acting only appearing in a few more projects post-MAK and went on his own path as an artist, calling himself RANE. Condolences to the Panettiere family.
