Member mpm74 Posted April 23, 2014 Member Share Posted April 23, 2014 At first glance, these new sets seem to have the typical "set" titles, but there may be a few in there that are somewhat rare? (i.e. Showdown at the Equator) In any case, the package design is really cool (though not nearly as cool as Bob's... not even the same league). Member Secret Executioner Posted April 23, 2014 Member Share Posted April 23, 2014 Feels like they are re-issuing the same stuff over and over again. The Great Impersonators set sounds interesting, but the others... No thanks.
Member Rickson Posted April 23, 2014 Member Share Posted April 23, 2014 And there is some idiot on Amazon who doesn't understand what the reviews are for. Not only did he review these and they haven't been released but all he did was list what's on them and give them 3 stars. The reviews are intended to tell people if the product is good or not. ie the prints are clean and widescreen, has a lot of extras.... It really grinds my gears! I just went back and looked at his review and all he did was copy and past what Amazon listed right above. I am speechless

Member MonkeyFu Posted April 24, 2014 Member Share Posted April 24, 2014 It's fun to think about some good sets coming out. But given the price point and the number of movies shoved on one disc; I'm imagining VHS quality, full-screen versions. Which would make me very sad. Member kevenz Posted April 24, 2014 Member Share Posted April 24, 2014 ^^ Yeah I belive most of these are fullscreen with vhs quality video. You can find all these movies for free on youtube.

Member Secret Executioner Posted April 25, 2014 Member Share Posted April 25, 2014 Didn't expect to read this comment in this thread. Thanks man! Had you been involved I'd have shown more interest and probably picked up these sets for sure (and I think the artworks would have been better). Looking back, the Great Impersonators and Way Of The 5 Finger Death Strike (talk of an over-the-top title...) have cover arts on par with the Flying Fists set Mill Creek released last year. Member JustinB Posted April 25, 2014 Member Share Posted April 25, 2014 If these sets are like the two Mill Creek released last year, they'll unfortunately have all sorts of compression-related picture issues due to too many movies being crammed on one DVD. It's too bad because they have some great titles that would probably have a decent quality picture if they weren't so compressed.
Member kungfusamurai Posted April 27, 2014 Member Share Posted April 27, 2014 I would only invest in these if I knew that most were made from decent sources. But my guess is they're George Tan sourced, or at least from the same quality as his GZ releases. Plus squeezing more than 2 films on a DVD means it's gonna look crappy or pixelated, even if they did get a good source.
Member kungfusamurai Posted April 27, 2014 Member Share Posted April 27, 2014 now that I look at the set, it appears many are from previous sets Mill Creek or another company (I forget the name of it) released as a 50 movie pack. The tell tale movies are Ninja Death I, II, III, and Heroes of Shaolin 1 and 2. They appear in all of the sets, so they're just recycling old releases. The guy who reviewed this set actually gives a good description of which movies in the 50 set are from other Mill Creek sets. So if you're already got the earlier 50 movie set, plus you got Flying Fists and Kickin' It, then you really only need to get Impersonators and Way of The 5 Finger to get the complete set of films that's in 100 movies. http://www.amazon.com/Iron-Fist-Frenzy-Movie-Collection/dp/B00JPQ1I6A/ref=sr_1_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1398610502&sr=1-1&keywords=iron+fist+frenzy

VideoAsia also released some sets that weren't really great quality - though the films are quite enjoyable.
Member BlurayStation3 Posted April 29, 2014 Member Share Posted April 29, 2014 Looks like the 100-pack is just two 50-packs packaged together; Iron Fist Frenzy 50-pack and probably the old Martial Arts 50-pack.

It has a lot of films in common with the MA 50-pack so I guess you must be right - maybe it's just the two sets in a cardboard sleeve.
