Killer Constable, Holy Flame, Avenging Eagle, and Shaolin Rescuers.

I think The Holy Flame used different music in the dub than the original language version. The piece I think you mean is also in Heavenb & Hell & Tigress of shaolin.

Avenging Eagle is also a good chice & I need to check Shaolin Rescuers again :wink2:

To Eastern Evil: It plays briefly at the end of Kid With the Golden Arm - though not without dialogue ("you escort the gold.. it isn't far now... I'm gonna get drunk.")

Thank you. I'll check that out :smile2:

I like the beginning theme music from the 1933 King Kong in a kung fu movie..

That score always stirs me.

Thanks. That was used in a Shaw movie?

I think in many Shaw's and many classic kung fu movies as well.

What do you all think about the Masked Avengers opening theme?
The music in this film is excellent and heavily nostalgic for me, from opening theme through to incidental music.

Morgoth mentioned Shaolin Resucuers and thats a great shout. This is the one where the opening theme integrates with the intro scene in a stop start music/kung fu fashion?Classic stuff.

I couldn't find the part you meant What is the minute mark it starts at?

Eastern Evil I am not in home but that flute melody is featured about 3 times in golden swallow and propably once in twin blades of doom.

I try to inform you correct time later.

Never heard it in a Shaw, maybe someone else has. Very nice though.

Eastern Evil I could be wrong but I am for sure it was in hundreds of classic kung fu movies.

That particular piece of music is from the DeWolfe album "Heavy Truckin". The song itself is called "Black Pound".

The 5 Shaolin Masters piece is really good, forgot about that for a minute - is it in 8 Diagrams also?

I have seen that and of course it is a great movie, but I don't recall if that piece is in there.

Probably a keyboard made that, wonder what instrument it was meant to emulate?

Sorry, Eastern Evil, I can't remember, but I think it is not in The 8 Diagram Pole Fighter.

Yes, sure, it's a synthesizer and some percussion, too, but perhaps all parts are "artificially" created, I can't tell..

I have to find that L.P., sounds real nice.

I like this piece a lot, the guitar sounds just like the times these Shaw's were made.

I really like this song from 'The Silent Swordsman'

Yu Hui & Shu Pei Pei are fantastic as always.

This has a great melody & good vocals both man & woman.

Miss Seiko 1966 (Yu Hui) & her runner up, I think :wink2:

I agree. The same with the fish catching part in 'Shaolin Martial Arts'

It sounds very King Arthurish

Come on, there are no Blue Oyster Cult fans here??

That's why I thought it needed more cowbell.

More seriously, I have heard some BOC albums but I don't remember that tune. :squigglemouth:

Well, here you go!

The mystery is solved (for me) by loubat - thank you again, my friend!

(The song in the beginning of 'Mercenaries from Hong Kong')

No wonder it didn't ring a bell, I don't have the Tyranny And Mutation album - I have a little selection of BOC records though: Secret Treaties, Agents Of Fortune (with the famous song (Don't Fear) The Reaper notably), Spectres (with the epic Godzilla and the beautiful Nosferatu - my fav' BOC album) and the live record Some Enchanted Evening.

I highly recommend that band to any rock fan on here, they're damn good.

The theme from Heroes Two is cool. Of course, it's probably lifted from something else. I mean, there are some great Ennio Morricone tunes through out the Shaw brothers, but I can't give them credit, as they were used really well in Leone's films. I have seen some music ripped from one flick "Red Heat" and used to much better effect in John Woo's "the Killer". Also, some of the John Barry stuff works really, really well in early Shaw Brothers flicks.

Not a Shaw Bros film, but Way Of The Dragon uses an Ennio Morricone tune from a very famous Sergio Leone film:

Watch Delightful Forest. When Ti Lung is walking as a prisoner in the beginning of the movie they play Ennio Morricone.
