Hi Godfrey Ho worshipper,

What are your 10 favorite Godfrey Ho movies?

Maybe you will have some titles of worth that I have not seen.

And are you really a Godfrey Ho worshipper? LOL!

LOL, dude has the best gifs.

Says the guy who has always had funny gifs in his signature.

To answer the original question, let's consider all the "Tommy Cheung", "Bruce Lambert" and other weird Western sounding names the directors of Filmark/IFD movies had were only aliases for Godfrey Ho.

My Top 10 would look kinda like:

10 - Challenge The Ninja

9 - The Thundering Ninja

8 - The Ultimate Ninja

7 - 5 Pattern Dragon Claws (1982 movie starring Dragon Lee and Hwang Jang Lee)

6 - Ninja: American Warrior

5 - Ninja Masters of Death (AKA Project Ninja Daredevils)

4 - Ninja Dragon

3 - The Ninja Squad

2 - Secret Executioners (1982 movie starring Hwang Jang Lee and Jim Morris)

And my absolute favorite: Ninja Terminator

Need to watch Clash Of The Ninjas and Ninja In Action though, so it may change.

Nice grouping, but I'm surprised none of the "Thunderbolt" series made it. Majestic... and Scorpion... are probably my two favorites of all of mr. Ho's films. I've seen Clash of the Ninjas and it's WAY up there.

What about Robo Vampire and Champ Vs Champ-these are high water marks in Ho's illustrious career!

Haven't seen RV. But its "sequel", Devil's Dynamite should have made my list. Guess I was more focused on MA movies.

Haven't heard of these "Thunderbolt" movies. Just checked out the trailers and they looked pretty whacky. I had heard of a Ninja Thunderbolt that looks pretty crazy though:

And thanks for the advice on Clash Of The Ninjas. I'll try and watch it ASAP.

Yeah, Ninja Thunderbolt is a great one. The swiped footage is an above average modern action film pitting Wang Tao against Yasuaki Kurata. Really fun film. As a rule of thumb, if the word "Thunderbolt" is in the title, it's a must-see.

Isn't the movie "used" for NT called To Catch A Thief or something like that ? I think it's available on R1 DVD (thus without the Ninja scenes and Richard Harrison).

Except if it's a Jackie Chan movie.

It's a Korean movie called The Uninvited Guest of the Star Ferry.

I have reviewed quite a few Godfrey Ho/IFD/Filmark movies on my site - I find this site to be very handy for finding what source the original footage was from, alternate titles/versions, etc.

Thanks for the response and Happy New Year.

Duel Of The Tough, 5 Pattern Dragon Claw and Secret Executioner have no Ninjas, they are "classic" kung fu stuff (SE is set in modern days however).

Devil's Dynamite has Ninjas but adds Robocop and vampires along. Pretty crazy yet very fun film.

Hitman The Cobra is a war movie, no Ninjas either. There's another movie with Richard Harrison and Mike Abbott that's basically a war movie too, but they are Ninjas after a treasure. Can't remember the title though.

This thread has inspired me to revisit those Godfrey Ho titles before the onslaught of the Ninja or whatever was trending at the time. Here's a quick list of my favs off the top of my head:

DRAGON ON FIRE aka THE DRAGON THE HERO (My first Godfrey Ho experience)

MARTIAL MONKS OF SHAOLIN TEMPLE

SECRET NINJA, ROARING TIGER

WARRIORS OF KUNG FU

ENTER THE INVINCIBLE HERO

5 PATTERN DRAGON CLAWS

REVENGE OF DRUNKEN MASTER

DUEL OF THE TOUGH

SNAKE STRIKES BACK

ENTER THREE DRAGONS aka THE DRAGON ON FIRE

IIRC, it's HANDS OF DEATH aka ROYAL WARRIORS...

Yeah, that was Hands Of Death.

I remember having a doubt while I was trying to get the German Hitman The Cobra DVD because from what was said on a website where that DVD was mentionned, the film on the disc seemed to be Hands Of Death and not Hitman The Cobra. :squigglemouth:

Anyone know where I can get a copy of Clash of the Ninja?

It's available (among others) on a R2 2-DVD set recently released (October 2013) by French company Artus Films that I mentionnedin the Kung Fu box set thread:

3D_7.jpg

This set contains 3 Ninja classics from Filmark:

Clash Commando (AKA Clash Of The Ninjas): 1:77:11, French and English dubs

Ninja In Action: 1:85:11, French and English dubs

Ninja: American Warrior: 1:85:11, French and English dubs

Bonus features include:

- Clash Of The Ninjas trailer

- Paulo Tocha interview

- Richard Harrison interview

However, being that Artus Films is a very small company, that release could be hard to find nowadays.

That's a great set. The highlight for me was the Paulo Tocha segment, which was very nicely produced. CLASH OF THE NINJA(S) appeared a bit out of sync on my copy, tho...

Haven't watched Clash Of The Ninjas (nor Ninja In Action actually) on the copy I have, but I guess mine will have the same issue.

(but it's indeed a great set, highly recommended to anyone who likes those weird Ninja cut-and-splice films)
