At the end of the day, it's all about the viewer and how you view the film. Years ago, I watched the park fight in The Matrix Realoded and continued to suspend my disbelief as CGI Neo beat up two dozen CGI Agent Smiths. I was able to do the same with Road House.

The CGI in Road House was easily noticable to the point that you don't have to look too hard to spot it.

I guess you're right, movies are all subjective so it's up to how you see and feel about things shown. And sadly, I thought it was unnecessary and pointless after a while. I tried my best to enjoy the action as much as I could but the CGI was distracting too much.

I tend to watch these countless remakes nowadays ignoring the fact they're remakes. Comparing it to the original is pointless, such a cult classic had no reason to be remade. This way it's easier to enjoy the new Roadhouse which is quite fun actually. It's an OTT testosterone romp with enjoyable fight action, MMA style. McGregor's character is totally exaggerated and overplayed but it fits the movie well. Gyllenhaal's Donnie Darko grin is a bit out of place. I'm not a fan of the CGI in the fight scenes, hope this is not the future of MA action. Having a character called Big Dick best describes what this movie is all about.

(@14m) I had no idea some of the fighting wasn't even real in the sense the punches or whatever were filmed separately. A lot more work involved than a regular filmed fight.
