HI---JUST thought i would announce that at least 11 shaw bros martial arts movies are available on itunes. found them just last night. i believe the cost is $13 for a hd version and $10 for standard. they appear to be in mandarin and english audio with english sub title option. titles are ---36th CHAMBER OF SHAOLIN -- RETURN TO 36TH CHAMBER OF SHAOLIN -- AVENGING EAGLE -- KING BOXER -- FIVE SHAOLIN MASTERS -- SAVAGE 5 -- SHAOLIN MARTIAL ARTS -- SHAOLIN PRINCE -- NEW SHAOLIN BOXERS -- HEROES OF THE EAST -- FLYING GUILLOTINE .i have never bought a movie from itunes but i might check out one just to see how this works. i was hoping they would have a few more rares in there, but i guess their holding them back for future releases. future english dubs to be released are VENGEANCE IS A GOLDEN BLADE -- HEADS FOR SALE -- THE PIRATE -- DUEL FOR GOLD -- THE CASINO -- THE BASTARD -- BLACK LIZARD -- THE BLOODY ESCAPE -- SEXY KILLER -- FULL MOON SCIMITAR -- INVINCIBLE ENFORCER -- WHAT PRICE HONESTY -- THE WEIRD MAN -- POLICE FORCE -- LADY PROFESSIONAL -- RAW COURAGE and of course some of the other already available dubs. just wondering if any one has already downloaded any and if so what's your opinion. thanks:bigsmile:

on facebook they said:

Dear All, I am sorry. I just confirmed with iTunes that the SB Room is only available for the Asia region (Cambodia, Brunei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam). We will continue to work with iTunes and hopefully the Room can be set up for the rest of the world. Stay tuned with us :>

Just the other night I went to rent a new movie; non martial arts related. It is one of those indie films that hits theaters, itunes and other vod sites at the same time. Just to rent the movie was a pita. I don`t use iTunes but made an exception. Just to "rent" the movie you had to download it. I was thinking that I was going to be doing something like Netflix where it just streams. But, no, they give you 30 days once you download it to watch it. But, once you start watching it, you only have 24 hours to finish it. I think the size of the download file was like 4gb. It took probably a day to download.

if i had access to it i could easily record the Audio while playing it. also the ziieagle-rippers could easily copy the whole movie i'm pretty sure. it's not like it's all impossible basically.

should only work with Quicktime and Windows Media Player (i have some blurays with itunes Codes and they specify these players as requirement)

downloaded heroes of the east im going to compare to dvd. Most blu ray players have a usb port. If you decrepit the file you could put to disc or on USB/Portable Hard Drive to play on my TV. My only concern is disciples of the 36th chamber only language option is Mandarin and The 36th chamber's is Cantonese ? Go figure will all release have wrong language?

Woo-hoo! So happy to see these on there. In the U.S. they seem to be $7.99 to own in HD and $3.99 to rent. Only one in there I haven't seen yet but I hope more will arrive soon.

what is eDM ? dvd on demand ? that would be great.

I noticed that New Shaolin Boxer is 3.40 GB for the 1080p version... doesn't seem very HD to me since real hd version on blu ray is 25 gb or even 50 gb.

If you get the dubs, send them my way for Customs. (the above 4 titles have customs tho)

As much as I dislike the iTunes movie watching process experience, I would be willing to put myself through more torture to rent a few of the Shaws that I do not own. I hope that they would have some of the more rare films though. I can`t see purchasing them through iTunes due to their limits on a product that I would "own". The only exception that I could see making would be for To Kill A Mastermind. But, why pay HD prices and get SD quality? I want to see Shaws do well but if they want more of my money then they need to release blu ray with English subs or re-issue some of these OOP discs.

I use iTunes on a regular basis for HD movies and television and haven't ever had any significant problems. I think a lot will depend on the speed of your internet. I have decent internet speeds, not top of the line but not slow either. iTunes does allow streaming. On occasion I have stuttering when streaming, but it's rare, and I've had those same issues with Hulu, Amazon, and Netflix too. I just downloaded "5 Shaolin Masters", "Vengeance", and "Shaolin Prince". Took about 10 to 15 minutes for each. Only had a few moments to check it out, but I didn't see anything immediately concerning, tough to tell on the computer though. I'm going to try and throw them up on the projector this weekend and see what I think. I assume the HD shaws all suffer from the same excessive DNR, and the original films were sometimes pretty blurry in spots. So I'm not expecting a pristine picture, but most of the dvds don't hold up well when viewed on a large screen and I'm hoping this is a reasonable upgrade.

Also, seems strange that the 2 missing english dubs are the 36th chamber and return to the 36th chamber. is this a rights issue?

Maybe the two 36th Chamber films don't have the dubs as they were the first two released to iTunes (at least here). Perhaps Celestial thought about adding the dubs afterwards.

I wonder if there really will be a dub for 'Full Moon Scimitar'?

That would be so nice - even 'Black Lizard' would be good - it might help me like it a bit more & I am a huge Chor Yuen/Gu Long fan.

I have a question about the Library of Congress having those dubs available.

Can people listen to them AT the Library? Why do hey have them if people cannot listen to them? Just for preservation? Maybe we can discuss this in the big dub thread that is stickied.

I thought I was relentless about these dubs, I just read BOBO's many posts on Celestials FB page asking about them!!!
