Member massa_yoda Posted February 5, 2014 Member Share Posted February 5, 2014 For me hands down it would be Kung Fu Instructor.. Kung Fu Instructor - classic! Vengeance is awesome. I really like Kung Fu Instructor Thanks for the recommendations! I ended up getting Kung Fu Instructor and Vengeance. I also got Four Riders (The description just sounded so interesting) and Bare-Footed Kid (read some good reviews on this one). Looking forward to checking them all out now! Member Tex Killer Posted February 6, 2014 Member Share Posted February 6, 2014 Yeah. I did not like The Master Strikes Back. There was something "off" about it. I liked it quite a lot. Entertaining flick even as not much fighting action, story got me quite interested. Decent end fight. One thing I did not like was "cut" of kid. Honest beheading would have been better:nerd: Anonymous heroes is great if you like chiang/lung movies. Crazy shootout in the end:bigsmile:
Member Chemical Lemon Posted March 4, 2014 Member Share Posted March 4, 2014 2 more SB movies added to iTunes Challenge of the Masters and The Master of Kung Fu Both include english dubs. They must have decided to go with a Wong Fei-hung theme this time. Maybe Martial Club will show up in the next couple days?

Member Chemical Lemon Posted March 14, 2014 Member Share Posted March 14, 2014 Also, looks like 4 more movies should be coming soon. I was looking at the promotional banner for "The Master and the Legend", which they seem to do now as a way to package a set of films they're releasing. The banner had images from "Shaolin Abbot", "One-Armed Swordsman", and "Challenge of the Masters" which were all released recently. But also had "7 Man Army" and "The Delightful Forest". So I went to their website to see if there was any additional info. And they listed these 4 movies as new releases. They were also featured in videos they were using to promote this batch. Member David Rees Posted March 14, 2014 Member Share Posted March 14, 2014 Question. I have no interest in I Tunes, but as far as the UK is concerned, any film released onto dvd or Blu ray has to go through the BBFC to get a certificate, does the same apply to downloads? Member spannick Posted March 18, 2014 Member Share Posted March 18, 2014 @Chemical Lemon, thanks for the constant updates. i myself can't acces itunes at all, but i get most titles via a friend who can "free" them for me also. keep 'em coming! the only badly upscaled one yet was Anonymous Heroes, the rest looked pretty good in their 720p Version. No matter to me though, as the Dub for Heroes was unbearable before itunes released it and that alone is worth it.
Member Skeleton Claw Posted March 19, 2014 Member Share Posted March 19, 2014 I 2nd that. Thank you Chemical Lemon for the updates. Also, @Spannick: What exactly was wrong with Anonymous Heroes in terms of quality? This was on my list to get because of the dub upgrade.
Member spannick Posted March 19, 2014 Member Share Posted March 19, 2014 Heroes just smells badly "SD Upscale"; even with the Shaw Logo it's visible (distorted lines). BUT as the only DVD is not only Letterboxed non-anamorpic, but also interlaced, the itunes Version is STILL a huge upgrade in that regard! ah and one bummer: Heroes is cut. the short nudity is cut out. not important, but still a shame. (a few seconds of bare breasts only). Four Riders on the other side has the nudity intact so it's not an itunes thing... Celestial maybe used the wrong Master. Member Chemical Lemon Posted March 19, 2014 Member Share Posted March 19, 2014 My pleasure, I've really been enjoying seeing these again, and find myself checking the list every day to see if something new has shown up. Most I haven't seen since the IVL dvds came out. I'm also appreciating watching them with english dubs (some for the first time). My free time is pretty occupied watching my daughter, so the dub makes it a little easier to put these on when I'm working around the house and can't give them full attention. We ditched cable a couple years back and rely on iTunes and Hulu for any television we watch. So I have a nice setup to watch these movies. It also makes it easy to bring with. We're visiting my family and high school friends (who are big SB fans) on the east coast next week, so all I have to do is bring my phone and HDMI connector and I can stream HD SB movies where ever I go. I'm also going to download 7 Man Army to watch on the flight. It's funny you mention anonymous heroes being cut. I recently watched a Chang Cheh movie that had nudity in it that I hadn't remembered. And I was surprised because I thought that was pretty rare. The only 2 I could think of were 5 Element Ninjas and Anonymous Heroes. But when I queued up Heroes on iTunes it had no nudity (or at least not where I thought it was). I assumed it was just my old age warping my brain, but good to hear I haven't gone senile yet. Not that remembering which movies have nudity in them is a solid test of your mental state.
Member Kwok Choi Posted March 19, 2014 Member Share Posted March 19, 2014 Question. I have no interest in I Tunes, but as far as the UK is concerned, any film released onto dvd or Blu ray has to go through the BBFC to get a certificate, does the same apply to downloads? Very good question as usual for which I don't have a direct answer but would just like to make a few comments.I guess the iTune domain might have the same trading rules as Amazon for example which could make it flexible with BBFC UK certification. I also think it is really not a bad idea generally for Celestial to put Shaw movies on iTunes. There are of course advantages and disadvantages but it seems Celestial has pulled a fast one by releasing the movies with the English dub in full HD. If downloading movie files onto whatever hardware source for direct viewing is the future then possibly Celestial is using this less expensive medium to keep abreast with the competition
Member RogueWarrior Posted March 19, 2014 Member Share Posted March 19, 2014 I am surprised BOBO is nowhere to be seen as he was the most vocal on the iTunes Eng Dubs.
Member Kwok Choi Posted March 19, 2014 Member Share Posted March 19, 2014 I forgot to mention that it seems the iTunes Shaw movie releases are staggered. The Celestial website has these http://www.celestialpictures.com/shaw/shaw-video.asp and I've noticed iTunes USA has a lot of the titles unlike the UK. Anyone know about the Far East market ? Am I right in believing The 14 Amazons will be on the next batch? Oops my bad; just noticed "Amazons" right at the top
Member bobo Posted March 20, 2014 Author Member Share Posted March 20, 2014 oh i'm still here. i check in a couple of times a day. i am still awaiting the release of some of the lost dubs. i would say i have a legit version of pretty much all of the titles so far. i did purchase THE ANONYMOUS HEROES as i only had the crappy incomplete bootleg. in an e mail sent to me from celestial they listed pretty much all itunes titles that they had planned and they included dubs of THE FLYING DAGGER - THE DEADLY KNIVES- THE BLOODY ESCAPE etc, but so far they have not shown up. maybe that guy in africa that recorded some of them off tv will soon figure out a way to copy them to a dvdr. just have to wait and see. Member Rocket Posted March 25, 2014 Member Share Posted March 25, 2014 I just discovered these and while I prefer physical media, I found that I could correct the frame rate from 25fps to 24fps and burn them to a disc and get an end product superior to any dvd (at least as far as video is concerned) out there. I'd say they're even superior to any of the botched pal-to-ntsc converted blu-rays that are available (36th Chamber, any of the Well-Go stuff). Any chance you could share the list of which titles Celestial plans to make available on iTunes, bobo? I 'd love to upgrade some of my IVL titles such as Magic Blade, Shaolin Temple, Intimate Confessions..., Men From a Monastery, and a host of others.
