Chemical Lemon, thank you for your tireless efforts in updating the list with language specifics etc.  It is very much appreciated.

I was surprised I actually stumbled across a new Shaws on iTunes shortly after they posted it. Now to watch the film.

hi-- I have a question concerning iTunes shaws. does anyone here have a program that will break the DRM protection, so that you can burn the movies onto a dvd-r ?  on my mac I had a program called REQUIEM that disabled the protection and I could burn the movies, but the mac died and the requiem does not work on my windows computer. it would be nice if I had the option of watching bought movies on my much larger tv screen.   thanks. yes, I know there are a number of programs that you have to buy, $40 to $60 but do they really work and besides requiem was free and it worked.

Thanks, Chemical Lemon.

Edit:

The Angry Guest purchased.

Flag of Iron is an eventual purchase for me.  I've got the dvd here, so I can wait.  Flag is a decent Venoms film (Lu Feng is great, as is Tien Hsiang Lung as the Rambler who probably takes top honors for acting here.)

Edit:  It looks like the first 5 minutes have next to no dialogue, I think I wasn't paying attention and there wasn't enough dialogue to clue me in that it was not playing the English dub.

I could have sworn when I watched the first few minutes of the angry guest last night that it had the English dub. I always leave the subtitles on though, so it's possible I just wasn't paying attention and didn't notice. I was watching on Apple TV, and I assume if they switch the underlying file before I'm finished it either won't prompt me to resume or it will give me an error. I'll see next time I can sit down for a moment and watch the rest. I'm bummed, I usually note the languages immediately but I was out for the night and didn't want to sit in front of the computer when I got home. I bet I just didn't notice though.

Here's something interesting I noticed last week. On my computer if I navigate to my copy of the 36th chamber and say to go to the movie in the iTunes Store I get an error, which makes sense since it's not currently available in the US store. On the Apple TV though it still shows up for me, only without English subtitles, which it always had. This leads me to believe that the movie is probably still up in China or another mandarin speaking region. And I think Celestial constantly steps on its own toes trying to keep slightly different movies up for different regions. I do a pretty good job of backing my movies up locally so I can usually tell if the underlying file has changed. Not this time though.

You're not alone, I was paying attention and thought it would be in English too. I went back a couple of times after reading Spannick's post. Probably confusing it with something else I'd watched since I've been binging lately.

Outside of this, I don't mind just having English subs. I prefer that, but I sure understand why folks would want to own an English dub as well.

Thanks for the update on 36th Chamber too. Makes me think I should download the Shaws I liked that I purchased from iTunes.

Whoah... busy afternoon.  Magnificent Wanderers, The Pirate, The Dragon Missile, and The Casino are all up in the U.S. iTunes store.  All have Mandarin/English dubs and English/Traditional Chinese subs.

LOL, I just missed them posting. I checked a few hours ago. Thanks Chemical Lemon!  In spite of my misgivings about The Pirate, I'll still buy that one.

Celestial needs to do this more often.

Thanks Chemical Lemon, I'll definitely be picking up Flying Guillotine 2 and the Pirate eventually.

6 films in one day!

I wonder what's next.

Probably nothing for 6 months. :monk_laughing:

It is nice we got those but not sure if I will be getting any of those. Still waiting for Perils to return. Now, that is what I really want to get.

:tongueout I hope you're wrong.  I'm surprised about Perils too (and I haven't seen any of the Sentimental Swordsmen films yet. Don't want to buy the dvds because Celestial will go ahead and release them digitally.)

Yeah I'm frustrated about Perils too.  It's up on google play/youtube but they only ever have one track on those (In this case Mandarin), and I prefer not to have my digital movies spread between different incompatible services.

I'm definitely an iTunes person despite the 30% upcharge we get as opposed to Google and Amazon. I hope the delay  means that Celestial are working on offering all of the Sentimental Swordsman films through iTunes.

I am finally really considering getting some of these. I may have asked this before, but can I burn these easily? I'd like to watch them on a TV without buying Apple TV.

I have heard of stuff like this but not sure how legal it is. But, you might want to search for the name tuneskit.

As much as I hate iTunes, I use them too if there is no blu-ray available.

I really hope that I am wrong too. And, I want the Sentimental Swordsman in HD. You would think Celestial would put out another trilogy** box set and make Sentimental Swordsman.

** the 3rd movie was not really Sentimental Swordsman, right? but because it was so popular, they changed the lead character

I too like to collect the physical copies of the movies; but I'd like to get some of the more rare movies here, and also some of the previously unreleased English dubs.

Im not sure why I seemed to forget I have a laptop, so I could just plug it into my TV with an HDMI cord to watch the movies.

The Sentimental Swordsman is cool, but not one of my favorite Chor Yuen movies, the lack of choreographed fights hurts it in my book. Still a nice story with some well acted, cool characters. Also one of the rare Shaw movies to take place in "snowy" looking locations/sets. (Can't remember but I think they were sets, even still that's a rarity).

I have always wanted to see "Return of.."  Due to the stellar cast, and that's one I'll definitely buy if iTunes releases it.

Burning: No, you have to find software to strip out the DMR code.

Streaming to TV depends on the specs / age of your tv and laptop. There is Apple software that can do it, but my Samsung tv is about a decade old now and even wtih my newer Mac, I still cannot stream.

Tried to multi-quote and... not just yet.

Sentimental Swordsman trilogy, I cannot answer the questions about that @reason108.

@paimeifist I am curious to see Ti using a fan (which has blades in it), but really I'd rather have Clan Feuds, The Convict Killer, Swordsman and Enchantress or The Deadly Breaking Sword on iTunes before the Sentimental series. Who knows...Celestial may just surprise us with another Brave Archer wave.

I love snowy locations too, always unique and it was one of the best things about the Inheritor of Kung Fu for me.

Well the fan isn't used to fight. It's more of a ranged weapon, so I am sorry to burst your bubble on that.I honestly don't remember a single actual fight in the sentimental swordsman. :/

Edit: I'm talking about plugging my laptop directly into my TV and using it like a monitor to play the movies, so there's no issue there.
