Dark Horizons:

EuropaCorp and Fundamental Films are set to co-produce three more installments of the "Transporter" film franchise.

The fourth, fifth and six films will be budgeted in the $30-40 million range each. One of the three installments will likely lense in China where Fundamental is based.

EuropaCorp CEO Christophe Lambert says Fox will have a first-look and Lionsgate a second-look on the three films.

No word as yet if Jason Statham will reprise his role as Frank Martin in the projects. No director is yet attached for the fourth film.

Luc Besson and Mark Gao will produce.

Hope JS does it, too. At least the 4th one so he can redeem himself for the atrocious fiasco the 3rd film was.

This is how it goes in my dreams: Bring back Statham, Besson steps in as director, they bring over Jung Doo-hong for action choreography, cast Cyril as Statham's physical adversary. That would more than make up for the third one.

I hope Statham returns for this one as Transporter is the film that made him a legit action star

Hollywood Reporter has announced that Transporter 4 has been given the greenlight....that's the good news...

now for the bad news...Jason Statham is NOT returning for the installments, but instead it will serve as a reboot/prequel, which will focus on how Frank Martin becomes The Transporter. If it does well, parts 5 & 6 will be official China co-productions, but it all depends on how #4 pans out.

Because, ya know, clearly this is a franchise crying for an origin-story reboot....

It is official: The next Transporter film will be hitting theaters on March 6, 2015.

The title? The Transporter Legacy.

Ed Skrein plays the young Frank Martin, the role made famous by Jason Statham in the original trilogy of films from 2002-2008.

Here's the plot of the film:

Frank crosses paths with Anna (Loan Chabanol), a crime boss who decides Frank is the man to take down a group of ruthless Russian human traffickers. Anna takes Frank's father (Ray Stevenson) as leverage to ensure his cooperation and both of them are forced to work with Anna to bring the villains to justice.

Radivoje Bukvic, Gabriella Wright, Anatole Taubman and Tatiana Pajkovic also star. Bill Collage and Adam Cooper penned the script. BRICK MANSIONS director Camille Delamarre directed the film.

This is the first of three new films that will serve as "prequels" to the original...I wonder where Luc Besson got that idea? (cough)Star Wars(cough)

I will not be surprised if someone like Cyril Raffaelli will serve as action director since he is the action director on the TV series version with Chris Vance as Frank

The first photo of Ed Skrein is up...remember he's playing the younger version of Jason Statham's Frank Martin

That car behind him looks way too current. Hell, I don't think it had started being produced when the last Transporter film came out - was the first trilogy set in the future ?

It's probably gonna be a Casino Royale-kinda gig. A prequel/reboot set in the present. Honestly, it never even crossed my mind that they'd set this thing in the 80's or whatever.

I posted the teaser trailer on the main page...I'm not thrilled...looks like choppy editing and close ups extreme again...Besson needs to teach his proteges a thing or two about editing, seriously.

The film's official release date is June 19 and the official title is: The Transporter Refueled (Changed title on thread already to reflect it)

Jason Statham revealed that he was offered to return to the role of Frank Martin but revealed why he decided to turn down the offer:

"It was obviously a great experience doing those films, and I would have loved to keep doing it. But they wanted me to sign on and do three more films without even seeing a script, and they offered me less money to do three than I'd get paid for one! So it was a business decision."

This is why Besson has opted for a reboot/prequel and has cast Ed Skrein in the role of Frank Martin. The film will now be released in September rather than June 19.

Not surprised it didn't review well. It's hard when you have a franchise that has really been tied to one person. It's not even that I think Jason is such a great actor in the series but he's so good in the part (I'm not sure if that make sense!) It's kind of like the Bourne Identity really making you always think of Matt Damon.

The only Franchise able to do it right has been all of the Bond films.

Ahhhh The good old days!!

I love the "stiff headed side look" he does!!

What f**kin' pile of crap !! This movie is just awful, maybe the worst I've seen this year (Jurassic World could be worse, but I haven't seen the actual thing) : the characters are uninteresting and very interchangeable (the girls are LITERALLY interchangeable since they dress up to look all the same, but they really have no distinct traits whatsoever), the story is confused and badly executed, the only remotely good stuff is the car chase in Monaco that you already have in the trailer (the French one does, not sure about foreign ones). And the best part: were there iPads and this car model in the movie timeframe ? Nope, the movie is set in 2010 but you have technology (like a model of smartphone from 2013) and cars from the past couple of years (the car is the 2014 model). FAIL, imagine if it had been set in Jason Statham's character's youth...

I didn't know Luc Besson was involved until seeing his name in the end credits, but since I can't stomach him, it doesn't surprise me this film did little to nothing on me except annoy me.  :thumbsdown

Haven't been writing reviews in a couple of months, so I may have lost it a bit. Good thing I'm practicing a bit before posting my two reviews for the monthly review thread.  :tongueout

Same.

I thought this movie was amazing. It's a terrible movie, but I still thought it was a lot of fun. Even though Ed Skrein was supposed to play the same character that Jason Statham played, I thought he looked/acted differently enough that he seems like his own character. I posted this mini-review a while back on the Chamber Discussion on the home page of SC36: "The Transporter Refueled is decent at best. I'd say there's enough fun, inventive, mindless, overthetop action for you to stomach the crappy story and dull/unlikable characters. In conclusion, The Transporter Refueled could've used more filing cabinets."

Such a ridiculous movie, but fun as hell. I think I'd probably end up watching The Transporter Refueled three more times before I watch Spectre again. Spectre is a much better movie, but Transporter is much more fun.
