Member mpm74 Posted May 3, 2013 Member Share Posted May 3, 2013 Definitely some nice art work. Hopefully the copies of the films are of decent quality. I don’t think there is anything here we haven’t seen, but thought I’d share: http://www.cityonfire.com/kickin-it-shaolin-style-12-movie-set-dvd-mill-creek-entertainment/ http://www.cityonfire.com/flying-fists-of-kung-fu-12-movie-set-dvd-mill-creek-entertainment/

Member Drunken Monk Posted May 4, 2013 Member Share Posted May 4, 2013 I imagine they're going to be pretty dismal, quality wise but I'll pick up the "Flying Fists..." one as I've always wanted to see "The Crane Fighter" and have never gotten around to it. I don't actually recognises many of the films on the Shaolin based collection. Does anyone recommend those films?
Member Tex Killer Posted May 4, 2013 Member Share Posted May 4, 2013 12 movies all on one disc  I have not seen much but if "Crazy Horse, Intelligent Monkey" is good quality I have to get compilation.
Member muppetdanny Posted May 4, 2013 Member Share Posted May 4, 2013 Each box set will be on 3 DVDs, so I am guessing 2 movies on each side of the DVD. From the Mill Creek website, the films are in widescreen and Eng. dub: http://www.millcreekent.com/kickin-it-shaolin-style-12-movie-set.html http://www.millcreekent.com/flying-fists-of-kung-fu-12-movie-set.html 4MoX8RIsN9c
Member oneskyforall Posted May 4, 2013 Member Share Posted May 4, 2013 I figured it would be English dubs I may pick up the Flying Fists one regardless because it has a bunch of films I've been wanting to see. I agree with Drunken Monk, I don't recognize any of the ones in the Shaolin Style set. I guess it's possible some could be alternate titles. GD Y-Y Thanks for the link but I'd rather buy an official DVD release than watch a film on You Tube. Even if the film is shit, I feel like I'm doing my part to support the genre a little bit. I actually find watching a movie on youtube impossible for other reasons (there's also the quality of the release, eventual bonus features...), but support (more to the local video store than anyone else ) is also partly why I prefer buying DVDs. Member Secret Executioner Posted May 5, 2013 Member Share Posted May 5, 2013 The Flying Fists set sounds more interesting to me. But hey, you can always get surprises in this kind of sets.

Guest Markgway
These films are often public domain, the production companies having gone out of business decades ago. That's why they keep turning up on crappy multi-disc sets.

Member 66 Mantis Posted July 16, 2013 Member Share Posted July 16, 2013 Curious to know if anybody has either set. It advertises the films as being in widescreen, but I kinda doubt it. That's the only reason I'd be interested in them.
Member HyperDrive Posted July 19, 2013 Member Share Posted July 19, 2013 These sets are only being sold online. Walmart for some reason isn't selling it until 8/18. You can't even get kung fu into the bargain bins now. A new low for sure.

That's the only reason I'd be interested in them. I'm getting promotional copies of each film. If I get them in my hands before they become available, I'll be sure and fill you in on this. But my guess is they'll be fullscreen. But you'll never know.

Picture quality is quite low and from a quick look at them some of the films are taken from VHS.They come in a single size case, with three discs stacking on top of each other. I have only taken a quick glance so can't really say more.
Member 66 Mantis Posted July 27, 2013 Member Share Posted July 27, 2013 I read the reviews and it's about what I would have expected. The few that are in WS I think were already available that way previously. Oh well...

But for some reason, reviews like this doesn't make me lose interest in this kind of sets - I guess I know what I'd be in for with this stuff if I bought it. Still trying to get these sets, but it seems impossible to get them through amazon.fr.
