Member paimeifist Posted April 22, 2013 Member Share Posted April 22, 2013 After watching Invincible Armour I got to thinking, even though the fighting in this movie would clearly be considered shapes, all of the moves look so fast, direct, and powerful, when compared to say Fist of the White Lotus(a movie which I love), yet not quite as simple, or brutal looking as a typical "basher" film. It almost seems like their is some sort of gray area between the two styles.. Has anyone else felt this way before, about this or other films? Maybe these aren't the best examples, if anyone can give a better example of what I mean, please do!
Member Omni Dragon Posted April 22, 2013 Member Share Posted April 22, 2013 The early shapes still has a slightly basher look to the movements. Bruce Lee was more fluent than the typical rigid basher. Also 80's & 90's stuff looks slightly more basher/straight line like when compared to 00's & 10's as well as the mid 00's started heading in a mma direction/more mix of ranges of fighting. imo new wave & 21st century are slightly different from each other.
