I'm psyched to see any film set in Bangkok that isn't Hangover 2. Refn will treat it with respect, hopefully.

This looks fucking amazing, big fan of Nicolas Winding Refn. I'm paying to see his movies in the theater I loved Drive!

Finnish film reporter reports back from Cannes: Refn's most beautiful and horrifying film. Plenty of neonlights. Gosling only has about 17 lines of dialogue. Far, far more violent than Drive. Some of the audience loved it, many are so upset (over the violence, apparently) that they are enraged.

You storm out of a movie because of it being ultra violent, lol... Stupid presses/ what the fuck were they expecting from a filmmaker of this caliber??? This shit ain't suppose to be soft, this suppose to hit harder than TIger Woods swinging a golf club at the masters.

Or swinging his dong at a skeezy pornstar..... but enough about golf.

I know a few people who was in Refn's Pusher trilogy, they said he was weird as fuck, but brilliant.

17 lines of dialogue, is this a continuation of his Driver character?

Haaaaaaaa - nice one.

His Pusher trilogy is fantastic - introduced me to Mads Mikkelsen and how awesome he could be as well.

The Pusher trilogy is madly underrated. Some crazy scenes in the 1st and 2nd instalments.

Milo makes an appearance in the shitty remake version of Pusher, fuckin' awful.

Gonna take forever till I get to see this, though. JP release set for 2014 facepalm.gif.html

that is why the internet is so great

I highly enjoyed this

WAAAAYYYY more arty than Drive, but I dig it. He's got the Lynch factor going now

Thought it would be more violent after those reactions from Cannes, but then again, they're a bunch of pansies

Come a long way since The Pusher, but has kept the ability to bring out the best in his cast

My son and I are bummed out. They will not be showing this in Philly! Pittsburgh gets it, but not Philly?! Weird... and disappointing.

We're both big fans of DRIVE, and he borrowed the PUSHER trilogy from me- which I haven't watched yet- and said it's great.

Have you seen Refn's Bronson? I'm a big fan of that film as well. I'm getting the feeling it will not be playing near me either (Modesto CA). I hope it does, but so far no go (our art theater can sometimes get something a few months later though).

Yes, we both thought that was quite good. I believe Karlos was the one that first put that film on my radar.

Here's the info my son gave me:

ARE YOU READY?

Mmmmm... was really looking forward to seeing it in the theater. Perhaps it will get good word of mouth and open in a wider release.

I don't compare it to Drive. When I saw the trailer I saw it but this movie didn't feel like Drive to me. I don't care for it at all. It is arty. For the situations presented, there was no suspense or fear put into the viewer. It was all kind of there. Lack of dialog didn't have an impact on the picture but some things needed to be told to us. That was a film making choice that I did not like. Lots of interpretation that doesn't make sense and is never fleshed. It's like he was being arty to be arty.

I didn't get the ending in any way, shape, or form. What was that?

I still enjoyed it, but it was a bit trippy. Some scenes you either get or you dont

Goslings character suffers a mental illness...thats about all I can gather from the ending :squigglemouth:

So how was the movie? I loved it

You mean ironically? No, I loved this movie

Everybody else hated it? I'm not everybody and I forgive them for not liking this movie

What kind of film is it? Experimental/surrealism/expressionism/hypnotic

How is the soundtrack? I fucking love the soundtrack/ oddly enough my favorite scenes are the karaoke ones

Is this like drive? It's Drive the sequel

Is it violent? Yes, violent/bloody but come on violent in cinema is cool as ice.

Did you just reference a vanilla ice movie? Yes I did

You will watch this film again anytime soon? I sure will
