Administrator KUNG FU BOB Posted February 24, 2013 Administrator Share Posted February 24, 2013 JU-JITU (2010, aka. Ju-jitu vs. Karate) Kurata was already in his '60s when this Japanese film was made, but still kicks ass in a major way in two big fight scenes. Sadly this film is not currently available with subtitles. But the story is easy to follow, and the action is superb. HEROES OF THE EAST (1978, aka. Challenge of the Ninja; Shaolin Challenges Ninja) Though he's not the star, Kurata gives an exciting performance as the Ninjitsu expert among a group of martial artists challenging Gordon Liu's kung fu expert in this Shaw Brothers classic. FIST OF LEGEND (1994) Once again he is only a co-star here. But his role as a wise older sensei that battles, and in some ways, schools Jet Li's Chen Zhen, is a standout! THE MAGNIFICENT 3 (aka. The Magnificent Three, 1979) Kurata, (fellow real-life Japanese karate master) Tadashi "Bronson Lee" Yamashita, and Chinese kung fu man Tony Poon Kin-Kwan team up to kick the shit out of everyone that gets in their way. Excellent fight action. FIGHT! DRAGON TV Series, One Season, 26 Episodes (197?) Kurata is the star of this fun action series, and battles Bolo and many other foes. This series was released in a nice R1 DVD set a few years ago and can be found for quite cheap on eBay. LITTLE GODFATHER (1974, aka. Little Godfather From Hong Kong; Godfather of Hong Kong; Godfather Squad; Hong Kong Godfather; Kung Fu Executioners) Kurata is the main villain in this modern day (well, if you consider the '70s modern day ) fight flick, and he and star Bruce Leung trade some killer kicks with their platform shoes! Hope that helps. Enjoy!

Member Lady Jin Szu-Yi Posted November 28, 2015 Member Share Posted November 28, 2015 I'm always happy to see Kurata pop up - he made a huge impression in some early Shaws (a splendid non-fighting villain in Four Riders) and helped make V.I.P. a good watch for me. Will have to track down more of his work once finances are sorted.

Kurata has a really solid sword fight that goes into a nice hand-to-hand exchange at the end.

Member DragonClaws Posted November 23, 2018 Member Share Posted November 23, 2018 (edited) Here's an old review of mine, from back July 2015, of the Chan Sing/Yasuaki Kurata classic, Kung Fu The Invisible Fist. Re-posted for new Kung Fu Fandom followers', who might be interested in this older ramble, click on the link below, thank you. Duel of the ultimate weapons, Chan Sing and Yusuaki Kurate are evenly matched opponents, in this intense scene, from the finale.
