Member TibetanWhiteCrane Posted January 31, 2013 Member Share Posted January 31, 2013 Why... just... why....? Melville's classic is untouchable, and Woo already used his Melville influence in The Killer... sigh...
Member masterofoneinchpunch Posted January 31, 2013 Member Share Posted January 31, 2013 Woo's been influenced by Melville in most of his films I hope it is more of a re-imagining that a remake since Delon's performance is inimitable. Reading through the article ... Berlin? Who would play Jef Costello though?
Member The Dragon Posted January 31, 2013 Member Share Posted January 31, 2013 Just be appreciative it's not Ang Lee. Otherwise you'd be in for Le' Brokeback Samourai
Member DiP Posted February 1, 2013 Author Member Share Posted February 1, 2013 Watched Le Samourai yesterday. Truly untouchable indeed. I remember Johnnie To being attached at one point but I'm as satisfied with Woo on the director's chair. To already did his take (partially) on Melville's movie with Vengeance. But why Berlin? Just take it back to France where the original took place.
Member hanshotfirst Posted February 1, 2013 Member Share Posted February 1, 2013 Um, John Woo ALREADY remade the film as The Killer. More or less.
