Member Yakuza954 Posted January 17, 2013 Member Share Posted January 17, 2013 I just saw his 1961 film "The Catch" last week. It was one of the most damning portrayals of Japanese society I've ever seen, and come to think of it, neither he or Wakamatsu ever held anything back in that regard. Two real mavericks of Japanese Cinema.
Member Vegeta84 Posted January 17, 2013 Author Member Share Posted January 17, 2013 Hopefully Criterion will start releasing the stockpile of films they have rights for directed by him. Those films needs to be seen on a broader scale.
