Member Jeru the Damaja Posted December 16, 2012 Member Share Posted December 16, 2012 Anybody seen this film that could give a review or know where to get a decent copy? It looks like a typical B movie from the 90's, but I'm a fan of Rothrock and Avedon, so I might give it a shot for what looks like an attempt at some 80's HK style action. Synopsis: After six years as a guest of the state, mob hit man Jason Reed wants nothing more than to get an honest job and spend time with his young son, Tommy. He is not ten steps outside of the prison before being greeted by Keither, an old crony anxious to pick up where they left off. While out for a drive with his son, Jason saves a young woman from a gun wielding thug, not realizing that he has just managed to ruin Keith's plans to recover some stolen heroin. While fending off various retaliatory attacks from his old buddies, Jason must also deal with his ex-wife, a reformed drug addict who has returned from out of nowhere intent on re-uniting with Tommy. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0199748/ A couple of clips I found on youtube. Member Reel Power Stunts Posted December 16, 2012 Member Share Posted December 16, 2012 It was released on vcd in Hong Kong - not a bad vcd, but not a good movie.
Member kingofkungfu2002 Posted December 16, 2012 Member Share Posted December 16, 2012 Not a great film, very low budget, but it does have some decent action. Cynthia appears intermittently throughout, but it's mainly Loren Avedon's movie. I have the Australian dvd, but it appears to be out of print now http://www.dvdorchard.com.au/ProductS1.asp?PND=122482&CS=1&NoCache=0.5728418
Member Jeru the Damaja Posted December 17, 2012 Author Member Share Posted December 17, 2012 Thanks for the replies. It looks like I will skip hunting this one down after the less than stellar reviews. I was just trying to make sure I wasn't missing out on a hidden gem. Member AlbertV Posted March 16, 2014 Member Share Posted March 16, 2014 Watched this on Friday...just finished a review and will be posting it right now. The film was made in 1998 but released in 2000. I go by the final credits as to the year. I will say...definite cheese and you'll read why. Only gave it 2 stars (and thats kinda being nice) because I did like the interweaving of characters and some of the action was good (Steve Tartalia was stunt coordinator). Member mpm74 Posted February 13, 2015 Member Share Posted February 13, 2015 Some rare behind-the-scenes footage of Godfrey Ho, Loren Avedon and Steve Tartalia at work on Manhattan Chase, when it was still called Dying To Live. Good stuff! (sorry if its been posted before!) PART I: J1tR9NzkW-Q PART II: Rh03vx4Qfqo
Member mpm74 Posted December 22, 2016 Member Share Posted December 22, 2016 This film is now on Amazon Prime (they are killing it as far as MA films are concerned)...
