Member Killer Meteor Posted December 11, 2012 Member Share Posted December 11, 2012 Probably I'm just ignorant, but does anyone else find the 3-person Mandarin dubs, especially those for Shaws and Golden Harvest flicks, to be really, really dull? Guest Markgway
Not compared to the comical English dubs.
Member Killer Meteor Posted December 12, 2012 Author Member Share Posted December 12, 2012 Well they're not dull, just stupid. Actual live on-set recording used to be done in the samples of 50s and 60s HK films I've seen and it makes them feel so much more alive. HOWEVER, the dullness could be due to excessive noice reduction on the dvds. The various indie company Mandarin dubs I've heard sound a lot more robust and involving.
