Why is Pai Ying ONE of the greatest villains in kung fu movie history?

My opinion is thus: Pai Ying is one of the more handsome of the male stars. His face does not have the quality of a so called EVIL that are so well depicted in the kung fu movies with so many notable actors who have faces to go with their bad-ass roles.

This quality gives Mr. Ying an edge as he play a baddie. So many roles as an EVIL in his early Golden Harvest movies.

So this also begs the question.

What are your favorite roles as an EVIL for this legendary actor?

I have to go with Royal Warriors... he's really an evil bastard here. But I like that they threw in the backstory about the army buddies, so that his atrocities is driven by an, admittedly warped, sense of comradary (sp?) and not just money or whatever. It's really a revenge film from the perspective of the villains, and Pai Ying really sells this war torn, loyalty driven badguy character.
