Member teako170 Posted September 24, 2012 Member Share Posted September 24, 2012 One of my faves as well. From this article it appears she is still having some financial woes? http://ent.ynet.com/3.1/1203/09/6868617.html 1966 article from Look magazine -- when the future appeared much brighter for the Baby Queen of Shaw..... Member BORNINHK Posted August 23, 2014 Member Share Posted August 23, 2014 I wouldn't have recognized her if she walked pass me I guess. Many Chinese people in HKG grew up with her movies. Thanks a lot for posting her more recent picture and the article.
Member xianzai Posted August 23, 2014 Member Share Posted August 23, 2014 She's one of my favorites as well. She really shines in her Chinese Opera roles (the films themselves can be tough to sit through because Chinese Opera is an acquired taste). If someone has only seen her in action films, there are a lot of other films with her released in the IVL Shaws.
Member mpm74 Posted August 24, 2014 Member Share Posted August 24, 2014 Great find! I thought she was one of those that fell off the face of the planet. She is one of my favorites as well. I thought I read somewhere that she had some major gambling problems, which may have stressed her out. But yeah, in that new photo she's totally unrecognizable. Now, if we only knew what Maria Yi looked like today.... hmmm
