Never been into anime myself however I always thought Star Blazers was fun to watch. I have on DVD the first series (first saw on the tube in early 80s) and second series (though have yet to watch the Comet Empire).

M.D. Geist is a top contender for worst anime ever. You only stand a chance in a group, with uh, "potions" to recover damage...

Star Blazers AKA Space Battleship Yamato is another thing I've heard great things about but just haven't got to yet.

By the way, you can find some of this stuff on crunchyroll.com for free, although the subscription is dirt cheap and gives you some better viewing options as well. And by some of this stuff, I mean Fist of the North Star...:P

Yeah, Teak... I use to watch Star Blazers and Robotech all the time as a kid:smile:

Odious, I've had my eye on Vampire Hunter D and Wicked City for a while, and i'll check those other titles out. Thanks.

John, so that's a pass on MD Geist then...

I use to be on crunchyroll, but I haven't checked in for a while...

It really depends on what you're up for. Shows like Angel Cop, Mad Bull 34, Violence Jack, Genocyber, and 'Geist are all critically F minus minus. But that doesn't mean they aren't entertaining, they just fluke their way there. And then there's the Streamline dubs. Are you familiar with the practice of fifteening? You know, how British dubbers would punch-up dialogue with F bombs and the like to make titles more "mature"? It's every bit as amazing as you'd want it to be, and more; not to mention the whole British-actors-feigning-American-accents thing. If you haven't listened to Baoh, Angel Cop, or Mad Bull in English, there lies an adventure before you.

Im aware of the ins and outs of anime english dubs, thanks to the informative audio commentaires of Jonathan Clements. And yes, the dubs for stuff like Angel Cop, Cyber City etc. are hilarious.

I suggest you get both the Vampire Hunter D's (I like the story in the 1st one but the 2nd has the better animation) and Wicked City.

I'm not much of an anime fan, but the Hakkenden series was a very good 90s anime, set in the warring states period.

Also enjoyed what I've seen of Fist of the North star tv series, and what I remember of Doomed Megalopolis.

Other than what was mentioned before...

Record of Lodoss War OVA

Project A-ko: Uncivil Wars (Versus Red and Blue)

Eight Man After

Lupin the Third: Castle of Cagliostro

Bastard!

I probably can list more, but they would be late 90's mostly.

How about these:

"Hellsing"- Read the manga and watched the series. Both are worth checking out.

"Ninja Scroll"- I have seen a little bit of the original series, seems okay.

"Ronin Warriors"- One of the best anime I have ever seen.

Most of the other greats have already been mentoned, so I hope this helps.

Voices of a Distant Star

5cm per second

Paprika one of my personal fav anime films I think I read somewhere where Nolan gave props to this flick as well. Satoshi Kon is the man I like his other films as well I hope they do his unfished work justice.

Ninja Resurection I liked it although I think Ninja Scroll is better still a good flick.

Currently waiting on Part 2 of the new Ruroni also waiting on Mardock Scramble the 2nd and 3rd.

Outta Series Berserk best series of all time.

Hellsing.

Trinity Blood

Street Fighter 2 v only anime that did the game justice.
