Member teako170 Posted September 10, 2012 Member Share Posted September 10, 2012 Watched this flick last night. Bit of a slow start but picked up significantly in the last 30 minutes. Shot in 1973 but not released until June '75, it only had a three day run in theaters; pulling in a meager HK$111K. Curious about the outfits the three sisters wear (see 2nd pic below). Didn't strike me as Taiwanese (where it was shot) or eastern China. Maybe Himalayan? Love that working title. Pics from various SS/ HKMN mags from late '73.... Guest Markgway
Shaw Bros films were frequently delayed from completion to release. I guess they had so many projects on-going that they could afford to play around with the schedule.
Member teako170 Posted September 10, 2012 Author Member Share Posted September 10, 2012 True. I can't imagine if they made any money on this thing though. Surely, the costs of the film surpassed the box office take - roughly $15K US. (HK dollar floated from '74 to '83 so that's a rough guesstimate.) Granted many flix were on a shoe-string budget but I wonder how many SB films actually lost money. Shaw Bros films were frequently delayed from completion to release.
