Member the moose Posted November 15, 2013 Member Share Posted November 15, 2013 Oh crap, why did I click on this link . I have not seen Tiger Cage yet either. Well he does die after the best fight in the whole movie - you still gotta see it.

Member Drunken Monk Posted November 16, 2013 Member Share Posted November 16, 2013 He seems to like the wires but I have hope. "Red Cliff" was innovative and fantastic.
Member DiP Posted November 16, 2013 Author Member Share Posted November 16, 2013 Dion Lam is one of the best action directors working in Hong Kong at the moment imo, along with Donnie Yen, Jack Wong Wai-Leung and Yuen Bun. He did awesome jobs in The Saint of Gamblers (wack movie though), the first and third Young & Dangerous movie, Exit Wounds, Infernal Affairs, Spider-Man II, the Red Cliff movies and, my personal favorite, Overheard 2 (featuring one of the best vehicle chase scenes in recent years). Moderator Asmo Posted November 17, 2013 Moderator Share Posted November 17, 2013 I think he also worked on that recent Street Fighter movie.
Member DrNgor Posted November 18, 2013 Member Share Posted November 18, 2013 I have never really cared for Dion Lam's work, especially when he's working by himself. Some of his collaborations with Ching Siu-Tung were okay, and Shanghai Shanghai had some good action, but he was working with Yuen Tak (a genuinely good action director) there. Yes, I hope so too I don't want to get my hopes up too much but wouldn't it be great to see a real blistering Hong Kong martial arts movie! Member Noelle Shadow Kick Posted November 25, 2013 Member Share Posted November 25, 2013 I'm glad to see Tony Jaa trying to make a bit of a comeback. His career had been so promising and I know I'm not the only one here who was disappointed with the outcome. Looking forward to this! Also the article says Wu Jing is the only other confirmed cast member. Is Donnie Yen really not confirmed? If that's the case, it's pretty bold calling this SPL 2, thematic sequel or no. Would love for this to be an awesome film for Tony Jaa and Wu Jing, though. Both are extremely talented but don't have enough films that really showcase their abilities. Member DiP Posted November 26, 2013 Author Member Share Posted November 26, 2013 Also the article says Wu Jing is the only other confirmed cast member. Is Donnie Yen really not confirmed? Donnie is near the stage of wrapping Iceman 2 and will next shoot Dragon City followed by Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon 2 in Spring. He might still be involved but as a guest star. Member OpiumKungFuCracker Posted November 26, 2013 Member Share Posted November 26, 2013 Wu Jing and Tony Jaa, wondering if they're pitted as partners since Wu Jing expired in the first movie or Jaa is playing the Villain role and Wu Jing the cop? Member DiP Posted April 2, 2014 Author Member Share Posted April 2, 2014 Simon Yam will be back playing the same character from the first film. John Zhang Jin (The Grandmaster) has also been added to the cast. Moderator One Armed Boxer Posted April 4, 2014 Moderator Share Posted April 4, 2014 Simon Yam will be back playing the same character from the first film. SPOILER ALERT!!! So is this confirmed as a prequel? I'm pretty sure the implication at the end of the original is that Yam's character dies on the beach from the clot on his brain. So much epicness in this movie, I seriously can not wait, wu jing needs this vehicle badly and Tony Jaa needs to get back to regular form. Simon Yam will always be Simon Yam so you know what to expect from him.
