Hey all, been reading these forums for about 6-8months as a guest and thought id best sign up

This last 6 months iv gone on a mad "Vengeance Video" buy [will list what i have below], so a couple of questions.

1] Apart from Amazon, Ebay, Play.com and Thatsentertainment, is there anywhere else you guys could recommend to buy these from online?

2] While no doubt i have bought some rubbish on this label, is there any "MUST BUYS" on the label, as im new to this im hoping someone can help me out, so any suggestions?

Or ones to Avoid? lol

Kung Fu Genius and Two Wondrous Tigers are most def worth getting! Descendants Of Wing Chun also worth checking out.

Thanks,

one thing i must mention, is that when i watched my "horse boxing killer", as soon as the movie starts, its title says "Descendants of Wing Chun".

It starts with two geezers having a fight on a beach for a bet, these two turn out to be the bag guys in the film and sam seed is not in it when hes on the dvd cover.

So i believe i got the "horse boxing killer" dvd cover and print on the actual disc, but "Descendants of Wing Chun" as the film on the disc.

But on the other hand, iv read that some film names get jumbled, mixed up, when on Vengeance, and they use actors on covers that are not even in that said film. lol

Invincible Armour is an Absolute must have that was released on Toby russels Vengeance Video label. Other great titles you can buy are: The rebellious reign, secret rivals 3 (and everything else on vengeance video that has John Liu in it), the ways of kung fu, the kung fu master (with sammo hung), a heroes tears, everlasting chivalry.

There's an old thread that has some valuable information:

http://www.kungfucinema.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6712

ironfistedmonk details a lot of releases on page 3 of this thread. He has a bit of a downer on the VV Korean films, but a lot of the comments are spot on.

Myself and RockBottom catalogued all of the released Vengeance and Rarescope titles. I have all of the VV titles myself. Using the prices/availability information from amazon.co.uk over the period of about 3 years, I'd say that the rarest titles (the titles you should snap up if you see them at a reasonable price) are:

Queen Boxer

The Eagle Fist

Kung Fu Genius

Invincible Armour

18 Shaolin Riders (usually)

Warriors of Kung Fu

Snake in the Eagle's Shadow 2 (which you already have - kudos!)

Hard Bastard

Zombie Rivals

Passage of the Dragon

Evil Destroyer

Snake Fist of a Buddhist Dragon

18 Jade Claws of Shaolin

Snake and Crane Secret

10 Shaolin Disciples

Thank You "Moose" and "Prinnysquad".

Moose, iv read alot about Invincible Armour, and i really really want it, but currently i can only find it for £25 used, and im not in a posistion to pay that for one dvd, but il keep looking for a cheaper version.. Fingers Crossed.

Also Regarding Kung Fu Master with Sammo, did it get a Wu-tang Clan release? If so iv got that version.

Prinnysquad, thats Awesome, thank you very much, soooo much infomation

Yeah apart from Invincible Armour which is my number 1 want, i have been trying to find 10 Shaolin Disciples, Eagle Fist, Blood Treasury Fight, Kung Fu Genius, Snake Crane Secret and Warriors of Kung Fu, and thanks for the heads up of the other Rare titles, i think i saw Evil Destroyer yesterday for about £4.99 - Runs off to hunt it down lol

In regards to Snake in the Eagles Shadow 2, i noticed it about £29 [used] and around £55 [new] on the likes of ebay and amazon. I checked Thatsentertainment.co.uk a month back and grabbed it for a whopping £5.99

Iv grabbed some more, edited on my list above.

I try not to usually spend over £8 on them, but i bit the bullet today on Invincible Armour and paid £20 for it, my only problem was Amazon had both the Vengeance Version and the Groundzero Megabit version at the same price and i was really torn between them.

On one hand i wanted the Vengeance version for my collection, but kept saying to myself, if your paying £20 shouldnt you be buying the better version, which one [myself] was thinking the widescreen Megabit would be, i went for the Vengeance Version in the end.

Can anyone ease my concerns? lol

EDIT

I forgot that Vengeance Gold topic, i just read the following:

Invincible Armour – Wide English dubbed with the original trailer, the picture quality is really good. One of the all time classics, it’s wide but I don’t think it’s the proper wide ratio. Awesome movie.

Im happy :)

Fist of Golden Monkey is traditionally quite difficult to source, yet there's a few copies on amazon for around the £5 mark at the moment. The same applies to Shaolin Zen Master.

Definitely get a copy of Queen Boxer while there's 3 there cheap. It's a rotten copy, but if you want the set, I'd say that the current situation is an anomaly. It's usually a fortune, or not available at all. I had to wait months and months for it!

Invicible Armour is weird. It was a brand new "glass" (as Falkor put it) transfer, so why was it cropped and non-anamorphic? I suspect this was to keep the actual prints collectable.

I'm not 100% certain but i'm pretty sure that the 'megabit' version came out a couple of years before the vengeance video one. And the vengeance video release is the exact same print. Perhaps Toby Russel was behind the release of the 'megabit' one then decided to release it at a budget price later on vengeance video. Alot of v v releases seem to be transfers from poor quality video tape, but not so with invincible armour. It sees to have been remastered (as advertised on the megabit sleeve) - I had the movie on vhs a while back, I didn't notice it had been cropped for the DVD version. What a bummer. Still a great movie though.

After a little research I found that the megabit version was released by a US distribution company called 'Grond Zero' - but I'm pretty sure the VV version is identical.

Also the movie description on the back sleeves of the eastern heroes vhs version(co-owned by toby russell and rick baker), the vengeance video version and the 'megabit' version are all exactly the same.

Oh apparently the megabit version was DVD-9 and the vengeance version video version is DVD-5 but no other apparent difference.
