For anyone who's based in Australia, I've been helping out to organize the Korean Film Festival here which is kicking off in Sydney from 22nd - 28th August, Melbourne from 8th - 12th September, & Brisbane from 27th - 30th September.

There'll be showing the lastest blockbuster 'War of the Arrows', as well as a screening of some of the classics like 'OldBoy'. As a contributor to the media team I wrote an article on Choi Min-sik which you're welcome to check out here - http://koreanfilmfestivalinaustralia.blogspot.com.au/2012/08/choi-min-sik-man-of-many-moments_12.html

The full link including scheduling information can be found here - http://koffia.com.au/

Hope to see some of you there!

Hey, OAB. That's cool that you've become active in that. Hope it's a lot of fun and there's a good turnout of support for it. I checked the site but didn't see any special guests listed as yet. Any luck?:ooh:

Hey ShawOW!linDude, yeah we got a special guest - Kang Hyeong-cheol will be in attendance for Q&A's on the movies of his that we're showing, which include 'Scandal Makers' and the last years popular hit 'Sunny', so we're excited to have him here.

The big draw for me is going to be in November though, not part of the festival but the Korean Cultural Office here does free film nights every week, with each week being a different theme. In November I've co-organized the action month, and there'll be an exclusive all new interview with Hwang Jang-Lee that's currently in the process of being finalized....for what movie I have to keep under wraps for now. :-P

Hey man, when will you be posting another entry?

I just posted a brief writeup of the short film selections that where shown over the weekend, hopefully there'll be a way to see them online soon, but for now at least I hope this serves to buildup some interest in them, some really good stuff was put out there - http://koreanfilmfestivalinaustralia.blogspot.com.au/2012/08/storms-in-tea-cup-critical-eye-on-2012.html

I need to visit Australia...

You should! & judging on your animation of Psy, I'm sure you would have enjoyed being a part of the Film Festivals promotion tactic - Gangnam Style flashmobbing around Sydney!

Korean cinema is something I know very little about but thanks to great write-ups like this I feel I'm getting more and more insight into this great corner of the film world.

I've now got a few more films to track down now, OAB!

Fantastic report!!

It's almost a week since the Sydney leg of the Korean Film Festival wrapped up, so I thought I'd go for one final blog to reflect on the fun and good times working for the festival came with, both expected and unexpected! - http://koreanfilmfestivalinaustralia.blogspot.com.au/2012/09/looking-back-reflections-on-sydneys.html?showComment=1346660790014

Very cool man! I take it your the Assie guy in there? I just got back in town from the holiday, I'll get to your blog later:wink:

I lived in Atlanta for a while where, believe it or not, there's a large Korean community, shame no one ever put any kind of film festival together or some kind of Korean town(there are parts of town with Korean business signs down the streets). Korean BBQ rules! My favorite food to go out for!

Thanks Tosh, appreciated! I'm definitely not an Aussie though, I'm a Scouser born & bred! First moved out here in '03, but then had a 4 year break living in Japan and just came back in January.

My favorite food to go out for!

Likewise, sangyeopsal is responsible for, well, almost all of my weight gain...but it tastes too good!
