In a who's who of basher greats we've also got Cheung Nik,Sun Lan, Fang Yeh,Shan Kwai ,Chin Sang-Yuet kicking ass. Unusually Sun Lan is the boss in this one rather than the slimey lackey.Fang Yeh is a cheating bastard who uses a chain as a whip. We need restored HD versions of this, Rage Of Wind,Gathering Of Heroes, Invisible Fist,Bloody Fists,Gold Snatchers,Black Panther. Unfortunately it will never happen, the HD of Bloody Fists probably the closest we'll get. I love Kung Fu Headcrusher, and often watch it as a double bill with Bloody Fists (1972). 2

Member WangYu Posted September 5, 2022 Member Share Posted September 5, 2022 It is a shame so many kung fu movies are barely watchable in the current state. I have the same regrets for these old Italian peplum movies

If you are talking free on the Wu Tang Collection, sure, but tons of stuff has been released on VOD in China, etc. 2
Member WangYu Posted September 8, 2022 Member Share Posted September 8, 2022 I always had the impression that only shaw brothers films had good quality releases. Most of the early 70s bashers haven’t gotten that treatment. I base this on Jimmy Wang Yu’s filmography
pressureworld
7 Steps of Kung Fu (1979) The story is pretty average but fighting is on point. Over the weekend I will try to make time for a few bashers.
Member Chu Liu Hsiang Posted September 18, 2022 Member Share Posted September 18, 2022 EIGHT ESCORTS - Everyone wants to protect or steal the eight treasures; known faces, double-crossing, and action galore. I enjoyed the movie despite dumb dub and pan&scan until a terrible horse fall towards the end spoilt the final fights for me.
kungfucorner
The last one I saw was "Kung Fu Zombie", and it was quite interesting to see.
Member saltysam Posted September 20, 2022 Member Share Posted September 20, 2022 Death Machines Low budget independent 70's movie making at it's finest. Makes little sense, 3 Martial arts experts with enhanced powers work for a dragon lady who sends them out on assassination missions. Shot in scope, the VS blu looks great, excellent score and fantastic poster and opening credits as well. Ron Marchini is one of the assassins.

I just wish Miss Tiger had returned so she and Doggy could haven take care of grand-uncle, and live happily ever after. Maybe it happened after "The End"
Member ShawAngela Posted September 21, 2022 Member Share Posted September 21, 2022 The Gravedigger : An unknown Elton Chong movie for me until now. There was still his usual comedy scenes, but they were only a few and not as annoying as usual. And as usual, his fights were good, and fierce at the end as it often happens in Elton Chong's movies. Shaolin King Boxer : I watched it only a few weeks ago and I don't remember the plot, but it was a GREAT movie with a lot of stars such as Meng Fei, Cheng Kuan Tai, Chen Hui Lou and a few other familiar faces. It seems to me that there are some bandits after a treasur at Yeh Fei Yang's father's house and that some of them make diversions in order to stop constable Chen Kuan Tai to gess what is their real purpose. Excellent fights and once again, great movie.
Member ShawAngela Posted September 21, 2022 Member Share Posted September 21, 2022 Black list : Henri Yu Young and Chen Sing play brothers. Chen Sing has been framed by Fng Yau and his men and has spent years in jail. When he is out, he wants to take the bandits to the police , but things don't really go as he has planned. Excellent movie, with great fights. Chen Hui Min lookd so young here, and I hadn't realzied that Yu Young was alos a great kicker ! That's a shame that Si Ming iddn't have a single fight here, execpt a couple of punches ! It would have been great to see her fight, since I already saw her fighting in other movies and she was great ! My second movie for today is Eagle's claw : SUPERB, EXCELLENT movie with twi of my favorite stars Chi Kuan Chun and Wong Tao, but I'm SOOOOO angry with my dvd that stopped right 2 or 3 mn before the end !! Right in the middle of the final fight !! I'll have to try it on another player and see if I can see the end !

Member Chu Liu Hsiang Posted September 29, 2022 Member Share Posted September 29, 2022 THE DAMNED - Don Wong Tao is a good fighter for sure but fails to convince me as master wagon driver. The ending was weird, after doing everything to free his lover from prostitution he did not seem very shaken by her death. Lo Lieh had that interesting weapon, a chain ending in 'collars' which also work like a guillotine. Wen Chiang Long as Sparrow brought some temporary wuxia feeling into the movie. Angela Mao's shoe-blades sounded like an old phone bell 2
Member sym8 Posted September 29, 2022 Member Share Posted September 29, 2022 Fist full of talons-Great Billy Chong film with great set pieces but I’ve always felt it lacks that standout fight sequence. Snake in the eagles shadow-For me I still prefer this over Drunken master, not saying DM is poor but I prefer the pacing of this one more.

Member Yggdrasil Posted October 16, 2022 Member Share Posted October 16, 2022 I've suddenly had the urge to replace my aging Hong Kong legend's collection to blu. So I recently purchased and watched these in the last fortnight. Some I might add I've never seen before. Some are by Arrow, Eureka and 88 Films Dreadnaught One armed boxer Knockabout Odd couple Warriors two The shaolin plot Lady wirlwind Hapkido Police story trilogy 4k Drunken master Duel to the death Iron monkey Mr Vampire The young master Shaolin wooden men Half a loaf of kung fu Martial club Shaolin mantis Monkey kung fu Flag of iron Human lanterns Flying Guillotine part 2 Legendary weapons of china Disciples of shaolin Once upon a time in China trilogy Fearless hyena Dragon lord New fist of fury Clan of white lotus The 8 diagram pole fighter Cinematic Vengeance boxset Miracle fighters (YesAsia) And bought some others too. I'd like to see some of Sammo's films released, whether actor or director. And definitely the miracle fighters film sequels, not to mention Hell'z windstaff. No idea where to get that from.

Member Yggdrasil Posted October 16, 2022 Member Share Posted October 16, 2022 Currently watching Fight among the supers. I found a digital version on YT because I don't have a VHS player to play mine. This is a classic that certainly needs to be restored but after watching and then listening to the audio commentaries of the above films, we were informed that the majority of the films were not looked after and the masters of many of them are no longer with us. I used HKMDB to get the Chinese title of the movie and looked on Google. As with everything these days, lots of Asian stuff is streamed by the distributors. But I couldn't find a working torrent. So just have to put up with the digital VCD cooy instead.
Member Chu Liu Hsiang Posted October 16, 2022 Member Share Posted October 16, 2022 THE BLOODY FIGHT - the fights were plenty but not especially bloody, and nothing to write home about, with decently told standard plot and likeable characters. To see Fang Yau playing a good guy was a first for me, and he wore an outfit that would fit into Asterix' village. 2
Member legendarycurry Posted October 31, 2022 Member Share Posted October 31, 2022 I recently shared some of my fave Sammo movies with a friend who had not seen them: Prodigal Son (my fave), Spooky Encounters and Eastern Condors too! We also watched Spiritual Boxer (first time viewing for both of us) and Mr Vampire.
