Member DiP Posted March 22, 2012 Author Member Share Posted March 22, 2012 First trailer is out. Loving the style, it sticks very close to Kirk Wong's Gunmen. pzcCptzBnjE&feature=plcp&context=C4ad26ccVDvjVQa1PpcFNO-qgq2deDPynTORkW21u5WyjAQKxLQJg%3D

Member tinlunlau Posted September 17, 2012 Member Share Posted September 17, 2012 Saw this in theatres last week. Overall, a good film. It's screening in cinemas over here in Toronto and some selected cities in North America.
Member DiP Posted September 19, 2012 Author Member Share Posted September 19, 2012 How did the action scenes turn out? Cause the trailers make them look really fresh.
Member Sheng Posted September 30, 2012 Member Share Posted September 30, 2012 I thought this to be a highly stylized, impressively produced film with an intricately woven who-dun-it plot... that somehow takes a few twists too many. The few action scenes were not all that remarkable though. There was an interestingly staged shoot-out in the factory, a mildly exciting chase scene and a heavily CGI-assisted ammo explosion scene filmed in slo-mo that didn’t look all that convincing. None of those were very long.

Member DrNgor Posted June 3, 2021 Member Share Posted June 3, 2021 (edited) Checked this one out on Netflix today. It was pretty good. The plot was interesting, although the end gets a little too complicated for its own good. The story follows a super-clever, if humanist, prison officer, Song Donglu (Lau Ching-Wan), who is transferred to a city to help clean up the corrupt police department (at least indirectly). He's put on a case of a man who was murdered at a bullet factory, but in which the bullet itself is nowhere to be found. Teaming up with him is an equally-astute policeman, Zhong Gui (Nicolas Tse), who is also an expert marksman. A complicated mystery develops as more people die in equally-mysterious ways, which are attributed by the put-upon employees of the factory to a curse, started by the unjust death of a female employee accused of stealing bullets. There are a few action sequences, including a gunfight in an abandoned building. The film mainly sticks out for its acting, characterizations, high production values and period settings, and its fascinating storyline (the caveats about the end notwithstanding). But it's more than worth a single viewing. Edited June 3, 2021 by DrNgor
