The Hollywood Reporter announced that Michael Bay will direct a new installment of Transformers to be released in 2014. Here's what producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura had to say about the next film:

“I think we really are going to do a reboot there,” Di Bonaventura said. “[but] what that’s going to be, we don’t even know yet…. We’ve got to get a story first.” The producer indicated that none of the cast of the original three are signed for a sequel, but it’s likely that he and Bay would create at least a few new characters for the film. “It’s a hybrid because there’s still continuity going on, and there will be a lot of new cast,” he said. “Whether there’s anybody from the first cast, we don’t even know yet. But it’s going to be a whole new story.”

Um....I'm confused. It's a reboot but there's continuity going on that must be considered? I thought reboot meant essentially starting from scratch. Whatever.

Still haven't seen the 2nd or 3rd installments yet. Need to. The trailers looked pretty boss to me but I know it seems like the majority of people who've seen them absolutely hated them.

Personally I think it's too soon to reboot the series. But if they just play on introducing some new characters and going off on a tangent based off of current continuity, I don't see a problem with that.

According to a recent E! Online interview with Josh Duhamel, he said Shia LeBeouf is definitely not going to be in it, he's not going to be in, he doesn't think Tyrese Gibson or Rosie Huntington-Whitely will be in either.

They are saying while the movie will take place after Dark of the Moon, the POV will be shifted from the humans to the Transformers themselves.

The official name, according to director Michael Bay, is TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION. And yes, the Dinobots have been confirmed by producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura. The film is set four (get it?) years after Dark of the Moon.

Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammar, Li Bingbing, and T.J. Miller will star while Peter Cullen will reprise his role as the voice of Optimus Prime.

Set date: June 27, 2014.

Neither Shia LeBoeuf nor Megan Fox is good enough. Let's hope they manage to tell the story in a way people can understand what's going on and who is who - I didn't get everything when I saw Dark Of The Moon.

Oh, and if the way female characters are filmed could look less like stuff you find on porntube and more like a regular film, it would be nice too. Thanks in advance.

You should forward this to Hollywood exec so they can get the message. The last time I spent money on Bay was 2007, seven years later, I think I did good for humanity.

hadn't seen the others, but I did see this one. a bit too long, and also too much going on at times like the review above pointed out. nevertheless, I enjoyed it more than I initially thought, plus for Hong Kong cinema buffs, you've got Michael Wong and Ray Lui appearing briefly!

Sadly, Bay recently stated that the haters will continue to hate on the films, but will still pay to see it. Yeah, when you make sure there are no early screenings (at least not for me), OF COURSE we'll have to pay! I lost track of how many times I checked my watch! Which is why I wore it for once for this review

I have no particular interest in the Transformers films. However, in the trailer for this it shows a fight scene with Mark Wahlburg. Is it a good fight scene and are there any more human fight scenes in the film (as opposed to robots?)

Because there's no way Shia LeBouff will still be free of prison (or perhaps even alive... Who knows, he may use the wrong kind of bag on his head, and... :crossedlips:) in four years the way he's going!

No kidding? That's interesting.

This is definitely a rent the Blu-ray and watch it at home movie for me. No way I'm paying more than $5.00 to see this.

That's sad. Gorhama told me it was "one of the worst films" he's ever seen.

Haven't seen it yet (came out last week), but am I glad I didn't. The only redeeming quality seems to be that Shia LaBoeuf and Megan Fox aren't here, but it looks (from the review by OldPangYau and his friend) like it's even more confused than the third - which was okay, though it had uninteresting characters and confused action scenes (didn't know who was who, which is a problem and seems to be a thing in the new one too).
