Member Cesare Posted August 2, 2010 Member Share Posted August 2, 2010 The Crow: Wicked Prayer I am a total completist when it comes to The Crow but maybe not even that is an excuse for paying money for this DVD (which I did). Anyway - being a Crow completist and having paid for the flick, I sure paid attention while watching it - and I gotta say it was bloody awful. This movie tries so hard and fails such a big time. Eww. Damned completism. 3/

Member kngfu Posted August 9, 2010 Member Share Posted August 9, 2010 THE LEGEND OF BRUCE LEE I watched the 2 volume (bootleg) set that has English subtitles. Every forum I got was putting this down, but for a guy who was raised on Brucesploitation, I found it a lot of fun to watch. The editing made no snese, and if I wasn't familiar with BL's life it might have been confusing. Just watch DRAGON THE BRUCE LEE STORY and you can follow this show. Fights were good, but the cameos were not as good as the regular actors/fights. All in all well worht the flea market price I paid for the 2 volumes. HIGH KICK GIRL Some of the fights lacked any power, and the instant replay was very annoying.

Member kngfu Posted August 16, 2010 Member Share Posted August 16, 2010 HUNG KUEN VERSUS WING CHUN Odd shot on video movie starring Leung Kar Yan and Lau Kar Fai as feuding fathers each representing his own style (guess who does what) who have children who fall in love. Some strange comedy between the 2 legends and some cool fights wityh then and their kids.

Member kngfu Posted August 17, 2010 Member Share Posted August 17, 2010 MASTER OF DISASTER aka NEW KIDS IN TOWN/THE PROTECTOR I just fininshed watching a vhs copy of a mash up between the Chin Su Ho/ Moon Lee film and Jackie Chan's HK footage from THE PROTECTOR. Made no sense but the Lau Kar Leung fight at the end made it worth watching.

Member Rhythm-X Posted August 19, 2010 Member Share Posted August 19, 2010 WALLACE AND GROMIT: A MATTER OF LOAF AND DEATH Plotwise, it's Wallace and Gromit. Either you're not familiar with the franchise, or you are and you pretty much know what to expect... about a half-hour of expertly crafted plasticine animation, love interests, improbable business ventures, references to cheese, and Rube Goldberg contraptions. Nick Park puts top shelf action sequences together, frame by frame. The sense of timing on display is uncanny. A lot of live action action filmmakers need to stop waving their cameras around like jackasses and smoking meth in the editing suite, and take some notes from a real pro. Member teako170 Posted August 21, 2010 Member Share Posted August 21, 2010 Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring (2003) Very powerful, moody film. Must check out some more Ki-duk Kim's flix. Triangular Duel (1973) Started a bit slow but what a great end fight with the Iron Triangle. Choi Wang gets totally busted up! Defiance (2008) Decent WW 2 flick with Mr. "Shaken Not Stirred." Double Impact (1991) Rewatched on cable. Still a decent JCVD flick. Go Bolo! The Order (2003) Heath Ledger. So-so. Kept my interest. The Devil and Miss Jones (1941) No, not the porn (you dirty boys). Charming and witty pre-war film with Jean Arthur and Robert Cummings. Casualties of War (1989) Seen multiple times. Underrated Nam film. Very intense yet tragic. Sean Penn is superb. Miracle at St. Anna (2008) Good Spike Lee film. He might be an even better filmmaker if he could leave the soapbox home more often. Rebel Without a Cause (1955) First viewing. A bit outdated now but probably for the time it was very edgy. James Dean gives a sold performance.
