Member teako170 Posted January 8, 2012 Member Share Posted January 8, 2012 Watched a VHS copy of this; wide/subbed. Really enjoyed this one. Great cast (Hwang Jang-Lee, Leung Kar-Yan, Jason Pai Piao) but beyond that -- a nice production all together. Some great camera work (hand-held, tracking). One scene early on reminded me of a spag-west with the music/editing. Only thing I didn't care for is some sporadic magical elements but that's just minor. Found this review: http://chopsockycinema.com/reviews/asian/70s/DemonStrike.html Full flick on YouTube. Check it out if you haven't.... z3VjSY4LU_M
Member DrNgor Posted July 22, 2021 Member Share Posted July 22, 2021 So what is the real Release Year of this film? The HKMDB used to be 1979, but now it's 1984. The IMDB, Douban and the Chinese-language Wikipedia page say 1979.

I doubt it's either. But probably closer to '79 than '84. Also, remember that the release date data on HKMDB is all over the place now, but you know this. Would be cool if someone had the magazine you see pages from, as that would help nail it down a bit.

Member TibetanWhiteCrane Posted July 23, 2021 Member Share Posted July 23, 2021 Wow, must say I'm a bit surprised. Would have thought '81-'82 max. Well, there you go.

Ninja Hunter came out the same year and had the same trope of the guy who sucked the life energy out of naked women to power-up his kung fu. I imagine one inspired the other. Member dionbrother Posted August 11, 2022 Member Share Posted August 11, 2022 Could have been filmed in 79 and released in 84. That industry was crazy like that sometimes.
