Has there literally been zero footage released from this movie?

Exclusive footage have been shown to certain parties. Trailers should be out soon.

Hopefully, it will see the light of day sooner than expected.

A piece of trivia: Wu Jing was actually offered to be among the new cast additions alongside Collin Chou and Ken Lo but he injured his knee and later wanted to do another movie so he declined the role he was given by Donnie that Andy On later ended up taking.

Easternlight Films has picked up rights to new Donnie YEN 甄子丹 action film Special ID 特殊身份.

The film is directed by Clarence FOK 霍耀良 and is now in post-production. It sees Yen as a Chinese cop embedded undercover in one of the country's most ruthless gangs. The gang leader is on a mission to weed out disloyalty.

The film also stars JING Tian 景甜, ZHANG Hanyu 張涵予, Collin CHOU 鄒兆龍 and Andy ON 安志杰. Yen's original co-star Vincent ZHAO 趙文卓 was replaced mid-shoot.

Production banners are Beijing Starlit Movie & Television Culture Ltd 北京星光燦爛影視文化有限公司 and China Film Group Corporation 中國電影集團公司. Yen and cinematographer Peter PAU 鮑德熹 are also executive producers.

Yen is busy with a slew of titles in different stages of production including a new pair of films being made through a joint venture company with Media Asia. Budgetary issues have delayed production of Ip Man 3D 葉問3D.

Synopsis: Yen takes on the role of Zilong Chen, an undercover police officer deep within the ranks of one of China’s most ruthless underworld gangs. The leader of the gang, Xiong (Collin Chou – JET LI’S FEARLESS, THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM, THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS, THE MATRIX RELOADED), has made it his priority to weed out the government infiltrators in his midst. Struggling to keep his family together and his identity concealed, Chen is torn between two worlds.

Upping the stakes, as Chen’s undercover comrades are being dealt with, one by one, Chen fears his days are numbered. Now, he must risk everything to take down the organization and reclaim the life he lost when he took on this perilous assignment. As the action mounts, Chen must do everything he can to protect the SPECIAL IDENTITY he wishes he never had before it’s too late.

You know, I really wonder if Donnie's gonna deliver. I know he's got it in him. The lineup - Donnie vs. Collin Chou, Andy On, and Ken Lo - looks fantastic. It's just, when things usually look this perfect...they're not. Maybe I shouldn't be so negative. I guess I just don't want to get my hopes up.

There was actually a trailer shown at Cannes Film Festival at the end of May and some people have seen it, including German martial arts actor Mike Möller who had nothing but great things to say about it. It's still not online so we'll have to wait. Probably not too long from now.

Kevin Ma of the Golden Rock confirmed it's only promos for both films (this and The Monkey King) at Shanghai Film Fest, not actual screenings.

Actress Jing Tian's character has been revealed. She's part of Donnie's team of undercover cops infiltrating Collin Chou's criminal organization. And the release date in mid-October is confirmed.
