Member ShaOW!linDude Posted November 5, 2011 Member Share Posted November 5, 2011 It seems that Jet Li has pulled out of the tai chi movie he was to do also. Bogus.
Member mark187 Posted November 5, 2011 Member Share Posted November 5, 2011 I hope that this happens, and that it turns out to be a modern day actioner. Likewise, I still am hoping that Yen does the Dante Lam film. glad to see the article mentions Yen may have dropped out of Thunderbolt Detective, I would be glad if he concentrates on hardcore action these next couple of years instead of action-comedies. Member DiP Posted January 19, 2012 Author Member Share Posted January 19, 2012 What film is the casting for? And is that Zhang Hanyu (lead actor of Assembly) next to the actor with grey suit in the third pic? EDIT: Yeah, Donnie's action directing. Those are the Chinese characters for his name. Member Drunken Monk Posted January 19, 2012 Member Share Posted January 19, 2012 It doesn't look like "Iceman Cometh," as hasn't that already begun filming? I'm hoping this is a brand new project and with Donnie doing the choreography, I'm very intrigued.
Member Drunken Monk Posted January 19, 2012 Member Share Posted January 19, 2012 I put the website through an online translator and picked out a few little tidbits. While it translates the film's title to "Special Status," it does claim that Donnie says it'll be a "modern action film."
Member Maz Posted January 19, 2012 Member Share Posted January 19, 2012 Yes thats Zhang Hanyu. This isnt Iceman Cometh but a new project. No official English title but the Chinese title roughly translates as "Special Identity". Looks like we'll finally see Vincent Zhao vs Donnie Yen onscreen! Member DiP Posted January 19, 2012 Author Member Share Posted January 19, 2012 Cantonese title is "Dak Syu Gyun Ban". Other castmembers include Chiu Man-Cheuk (The Blade, True Legend), Zhang Hanyu (Assembly), Jing Tian, Kun Yang, and Qi Daji. Peter Pau (The Killer, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) will handle cinematography duties, and Donnie will be the producer as well as action director along with Bruce Law (who will most presumably handle car stunts and gun-firing). http://movie.mtime.com/160980/fullcredits.html http://yellowcranestower.blogspot.com/2012/01/1192012-news-roast-pork-sliced-from.html
Member DiP Posted January 20, 2012 Author Member Share Posted January 20, 2012 Donnie Yen Takes On Vincent Zhao For Viewers Donnie Yen, Jing Tian, Vincent Zhao, Zhang Hanyu and director Clarence Ford (Fok Yiu-Leung) attended a press conference in Beijing for upcoming action film DUT SHU SUN FUN (SPECIAL IDENTITY) yesterday. Besides being the lead actor, Donnie will also be the film's producer as well as action director. In order to set the tone up for the attendants concerning Donnie's work and his current status as China's top martial arts actor, the event displayed a highlight of Donnie's classic action scenes. With DUT SHU SUN FUN, Donnie hopes to create a classic action film in "triple identities". This film will mark the first time Donnie and fellow martial arts actor Vincent Zhao working together. They admired each other and are looking forward to face each other on film. Donnie stated that, as an action director, he will design several fight scenes for him and Vincent Zhao so viewers would get the most satisfaction and enjoyment out of the film. As a producer, he also jokes that being a producer actually means getting "hard work" done, and that he would have to learn from director Clarence Fok participating in shots like a learning observer. Zhang Hanyu, a Golden Horse Award winning actor, has always had the image of a courageous or cool tough guy and rarely makes action films. But working with Donnie and Vincent Zhao, he's looking forward to this film the most this year. As for action scenes, Zhang Hanyu said that he might pick up a few tricks along the way and revealed that he has already started training in preparation. He predicts that it will get very tough but he's looking forward to the fight scenes that Donnie will arrange for him. http://hktopten.blogspot.com/2012/01/20120120-donnie-yen-takes-on-vincent.html
Member DiP Posted January 20, 2012 Author Member Share Posted January 20, 2012 Yen and Zhao Collaborate on Action Movie Donnie Yen says he feels excited about his first collaboration with fellow action star Vincent Zhao in the new film "Special Identity" ("Te Shu Shen Fen"). "We never worked together before, although I really appreciate his talent," Yen told reporters who gathered at a Beijing hotel on Thursday to mark the commencement of filming. "Vincent and I will do some great action scenes," added Yen, who is also the movie's action director. Vincent Zhao also believes the action scenes are highlights, adding, "Also expect lots of breathtaking car-racing scenes." The actors didn't mention the movie's storyline. Donnie Yen's notable films include "Ip Man", "14 Blades" and "Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen", while Vincent Zhao's most famous character is the kung fu hero Wong Fei-hung, whom he portrayed for both film and TV. "Special Identity" is being directed by Clarence Fok. The cast also includes Zhang Hanyu and Jing Tian. The movie is scheduled for release this November. http://english.cri.cn/6666/2012/01/20/1261s677274.htm

Member DiP Posted February 11, 2012 Author Member Share Posted February 11, 2012 Donnie Yen surrounded by 10,000 people in Shenzhen Ip Man actor Donnie Yen has been quite famous lately as the majority of his films in recent years have made over 100 million yuan in the Mainland box office. Looks like the Mainland fans really love Donnie. Last night, Donnie was shooting in Shenzhen for Clarence Fok's new film Special Identity (特殊身份). As the crew was filming a walk-through scene in heavy rain, three streets were blocked off. Yesterday the crew posted a special announcement around the area notifying residents of the filming time, location and when the streets will be closed. Unexpectedly the 'warm reminder' produced the opposite effect. Fans and Netizens took pictures of the announcement and madly forwarded it online. Last night, a large group of onlookers, over 10,000 people, gathered around the filming location. Initially, Donnie just wanted to shoot the scene low-profile but to his surprise the large crowd was waiting for him like a turbulent. He was a little frightened and urged everyone to be careful. Director Clarence Fok expressed that the situation was already like this earlier on and he also hired 70 security personnels to maintain order. "The security includes a person with authority and also the Public Security. It's considered a pretty stabled group of security people." During the night, a rush of water was to be poured to make effect for the heavy rain. Lots of resources were used for this film, like three large water trucks and a large group of workers. In the film, Donnie plays an undercover and had to be dressed like a triad leader. He wore some accessories like neck chains and a famous watch, worth 2 million yuan. Also, a famous tattoo artist spent about 4 to 5 hours putting a fake tattoo on him. http://tvbceleb.blogspot.com/2012/02/donnie-yen-surrounded-by-10000-people.html#.TzXbSnGhaCI.twitter

Member DiP Posted February 27, 2012 Author Member Share Posted February 27, 2012 Terrible news just broke out today. Vincent Zhao has left the set because he's dissatisfied with the new script and director (Clarence Fok, director of cult classics The Iceman Cometh and Naked Killer). According to Sina, the crew only had time to shoot few scenes before Zhao suddenly took off without notifying anyone. This has lead to the production company issuing a legal letter while Zhao has refused to return onboard unless they change the script back to its' original form. Special Identity was originally going to be a film about heists called The Ultimate Codebreak (produced by Jackie Chan) which would have had Mainland Chinese director Tan Bing helming the film and James Yuen (The Warlords, Bodyguards & Assassins) handling writing duties. Zhao thought the role in the original script that was offered to him was remarkable and expressed huge interest in working with Donnie. But when Bing got replaced by Fok the script had to be changed and Zhao felt his part in the redone script was no longer brilliant and felt the role was undermined compared to Donnie's. As of now, shooting is suspended while Donnie is trying his best to contact Zhao (who apparently doesn't want to discuss the matter) and persuade him into attending a meeting so that they can resolve this. http://dailynews.sina.com/bg/ent/hktwstar/kwongwah/20120227/01113183101.html http://translate.google.se/translate?hl=sv&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fdailynews.sina.com%2Fbg%2Fent%2Fhktwstar%2Fkwongwah%2F20120227%2F01113183101.html (translation in English)
