Yesterday, MGM officially announced the name of the former BOND 23. It is now known as SKYFALL.

Daniel Craig returns to the role of 007 himself, James Bond. Judi Dench returns as M as well. Joining the cast this time around are Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, and playing the villain is Javier Bardem.

Sam Mendes is directing the film, due for a 2012 release date.

Should be okay, Daniel Craig has done a fair job playing James Bond.

Yeah, he's no James Bond in my opinion. Still until he's replaced, which will no doubt be a good few years away yet and probably several more movies in the role, I hope they at least get a decent script in this time and a director that knows how to film quality action. Quantum of solace was awful .:squigglemouth:

I think Mr. Craig is best Bond...While he is not as quite as charming as Moore, Connery or even Dalton let alone Brosnan he has more screen energy than those...He is stoneface + very physical it makes convincing he can beat up bad guys in hand to hand combat...

I loved casino and quantum and looking forward to this:kiss:

I loved Connery, Moore, and Brosnan in the role of 007 but I really enjoy the grittier Bond that Craig portrays. Let's be honest: the franchise's titles have tended to be a bit cheesy at times. Hey, they can't all be gems. Doesn't matter to me as long as the action is there!

It is. I don't know what everyone is complaining about. The action was horribly filmed, granted, but the story was very interesting.

Just my opinion. A lot of people love Live and Let Die and I don't.

Understandable. I think that is probably one of Moore's better 007 films personally. Tomato (to-may-to); tomato (to-mah-to).

Granted, I thought CASINO ROYALE was a bit better than QUANTUM OF SOLACE but I found that to be better than most Bond films.

Casino Royale was a better film than Quantum of Solace... but I still found the latter to be very entertaining. I know the action sequences weren't to everyone's taste, but find the vitriol difficult to understand. Even average Bond is better than most. I'm not keen on the early 70s Bonds (when the series was at its weakest before regaining its footing with The Spy Who Loved Me) but bear no hatred for the below par 1971-1974 crop.

I liked that QoS was a direct sequel. Bond films haven't done that, even when they should have (OHMSS anyone?). So I wonder how much SKYFALL will continue the arc of the Quantum group. I'm very excited for this.

But then again, a lot of people love Goldeneye which I don't care for.

I like Goldeneye.

The opening of Diamonds Are Forever takes the piss out of OHMSS. That always annoyed me.

Every Brosnan flick was lame. Still love 'em because they're BOND though.

While I still say that Daniel Craig does a better job than most of the other people to play James Bond, I think the movies were at their best when Sean Connery was playing the lead.

I can only bear CR on tv with commercials. Keeps me from focusing on the fact that nothing is happening. Didn't help me when I saw it in the theater though. Its very boring.

Love QoS. Entertaining, where CR was not, though I loved the opening action piece. Like that its a direct sequel as well.

Daniel Craig is more convincing as a thug or a gangster.

To be fair they could as easily gone with Brosnan as they showed a dark and gritty side to Bond in his last movie Die Another Day, at the beginning of the movie.

My problem with quantum of solace was it didn't know what he wanted to be, the James Bond movie or a Jason Bourne movie? Failing At both and spectacularly failed from an action point of view. Filmmakers need to remember how to film action not just make it all chaotic so you have no sense of what's actually going on. I can live without that crap.

You know, I never did see DIE ANOTHER DAY. Been meaning to.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. You and I both know we share the same view as to how we like to see action filmed and depicted. (Is there a pun in there somewhere?) I think it was a Bond film done Bourne style. Still, I found it to be better than most, especially plot-wise, and didn't think all the action was terrible done. I rewatch it occasionally. Been a while though.

To pick the best Bond, you have to compare the screen portrayal against the character Ian Fleming created in his novels.

The closest anyone came to capturing that character is Timothy Dalton, the seemingly cold killer seeking vengeance from Licence to Kill is almost the exact person Fleming created on paper. Its ashame, like Lazenby, that Dalton only had a limited crack at the role-although Lazenby quit the role so thats his fault-as I think Dalton could have become the definitive Bond.

Daniel Craig's two movies are both excellent, Casino Royale ranks alongside OHMSS and LtK as my three favourite Bonds. QoS is a fast paced thriller which I thoroughly enjoyed, and title aside, I am looking forward to the next Craig movie.

As for Die Another Day-Shaowlindude dont bother-it was nearly as bad as View to a Kill the worst if the series in my view. Brosnan deserved better!!!

Im probably on of the only ones who has Dalton and Lazenby as my top 2 favourite Bonds!

My ranking would go like this. (purely based on the character and the actor portraying it, not the movies as a whole)

1. Dalton

2. Lazenby

3. Connery

4. Craig

5. Moore

.

like Pops said Die Another Day is an extremely unpopular Bond title and while I wouldn't necessarily recommend the movie to you I did actually enjoy the film even with a few dubious CGI sequences, although it's been years since I watched it again.
