Member GOLDEN DRAGON YIN-YANG Posted October 28, 2011 Member Share Posted October 28, 2011 OOOP's Sorry for the mao instead of Mao's. I recently watched the movie called: "Lady Whirlwind ,AKA ,Deep Thurst". The 'TRUE' title is unknown to me? You all can clarify. None the less, this movie IS so AWESOME I can conclude this is truly, one of her, Angela's, masterpieces! . I wonder in what time frame of her career this movie came out? This brings in the question: "What would you consider Angela's greatest film this one, or? Angela Mao has HAD so many EXTRAORDINARY films so I beg the question>????? "WHAT DO" you all 'CONSIDER HER' greatest FILM or ARE there to many to make this one film or any other "distinguished" as HER ultimate EFFORT? YOUR THOUGHTS PLEASE? Member Shaolin Chamber 36 Posted October 28, 2011 Member Share Posted October 28, 2011 My favorite film of Angela's so far is most definitely Broken Oath! I admit, I have not yet seen Lady Whirlwind, but will do so very soon.
Member David Rees Posted October 28, 2011 Member Share Posted October 28, 2011 Broken Oath is her best film although Hapkido is a close second.
Member shukocarl Posted October 28, 2011 Member Share Posted October 28, 2011 I absolutely love Lady Whirlwind for it's atmosphere and Angela's raw techniques but Hapkido is a more polished production and Angela's fights are much better.
Member odioustrident Posted October 28, 2011 Member Share Posted October 28, 2011 Best screenfighting performance? The Tournament is the strongest contender I'm convinced.
Member KyFi Posted October 28, 2011 Member Share Posted October 28, 2011 I don't know that I have one favorite, but along with the ones already mentioned I"ll add When Tae Kwon Do Strikes. This might be my favorite fight scene of hers ever:

Member bigrogie Posted October 28, 2011 Member Share Posted October 28, 2011 Not her best overall film but in the last 10 minutes she is simply amazing and shows her more intense performance ever in my view.

(Is it just me or does Sammo remind anyone else of John Belushi {or vice versa} in that?) I've not seen any of her movies. Guess I need to get on the ball, eh? Guest WuxiaFan
My 3 favorites are: HAPKIDO - IMHO, her absolute best fighting performance! WHEN TAEKWONDO STRIKES LADY WHIRLWIND - loved the fight scene where she kicked Sammo's ass in the casino, THEN he's waiting for her AGAIN outside of the casino, and she proceeds to kick his ass again a SECOND TIME! That's one of my all-time favorite fight scenes - ever!

She died last month at 93 of age. See below; http://www.hkcinemagic.com/en/people.asp?id=3235
Guest Markgway
I'd also mention Angela's sterling work in indies like Bandits, Prostitutes, & Silver and The Legendary Strike. Back in the day I would've gladly shown her my deep thrust!

That's one of my all-time favorite fight scenes - ever! I think Sammo pretty much spent the first half of the 1970s getting his ass kicked by Angela! But seriously, he did such an awesome job choreographing the fights, and selling them as a stuntman. I still say Sammo is the most important person in HK action cinema, given all his groundbreaking contributions.
Member GOLDEN DRAGON YIN-YANG Posted November 17, 2011 Author Member Share Posted November 17, 2011 Oh my, The Mother of those three..........WOW! Scholar thank you. Now really..... Angela had so many masterpieces its hard to comprehend......two more for consideration... Gold Constables (title unsure) The movie where the Japanese has the pearl (hidden) in his (GUT) w/ Carter Wong.... that is 'one' hell of a movie w/ an amazing ending.... Moonlight Sword and Jade Lion>>>>Another one where she SHINES! Neither of these has been mentioned.... but I say 'SHE' is the greatest of "ALL" of the (female) kung fu stars only because ,,,,,,,!!!!! I feel it is SO ! How many of 'U' agree w/ this assessment? GD Y-Y P.S. Markgway... U... know how to throw a punch... that may have had A >>>> good thrust...in the days of old! LOL!
