Dark Horizons has announced that the French parkour/martial arts action thriller DISTRICT B13 is being remade as BRICK MANSIONS.

David Belle, who starred in the original, will reprise his role, this time speaking English while it has been announced that Paul Walker will take the role originated by Cyril Raffaelli, a detective assigned to the ghetto known as Brick Mansions.

Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen are writing the remake and one of Besson's proteges (most likely either Olivier Megaton or Pierre Morel) will be directing it. Walker will be doing this film before FAST SIX, the next Fast and Furious film.

Of course they can't top the original and in all likelihood will be lucky if the movie is just decent. I honestly can't see the point in remaking a fantastic movie like District 13. You know it's not going to have the same adrenaline filled action, hell they couldn't even manage that for the sequel. For the Hollywood production...:squigglemouth:

I know there are people that just won't watch movies unless they are in English but it's far better to encourage people to try and watch the original.

I wish Luc Besson would stop remaking his movies or those he produces.:squigglemouth:

Paul Walker replacing Cyril Raffaelli :ooh: Seriously, does he even know how to throw a punch?

Dear God it's going to be worse than I thought. And I really should've read the first post.:squigglemouth:

Dark Horizons posted an update:

Relativity Media will be financing BRICK MANSIONS. Paul Walker and David Belle are still attached to the film with Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen writing and Camille Delamarre will be directing.

I'm just hoping Paul Walker trains hard in Parkour so he's actually convincing. I also pray to the Hollywood gods that this isn't filled with shaky cam shots.

if Hollywood won't let someone renowned for their stunts as Jackie Chan do what he's known for, why would they risk letting Paul Walker do anything?

Well I'm assuming Walker will be in a role that requires him to do some Parkour at some point. Granted, stunt men might be brought in to double him but, for the simpler stuff, I'd like him to actually put in the work.

As a side note, does anyone feel as though Stephen Amell (from "Arrow') could be a new, far better Paul Walker? He's displayed some serious flare for hand to hand combat as Green Arrow and looks like he has the physique to be cut out for grueling physical roles.

I agree but he's so good on ARROW that I want him to be able to continue with the show.

Well, you'll be happy to know that ARROW got renewed for a season 2!!! If Walker somehow won't be able to do the film, they can always get Amell.

First photo of Paul Walker in BRICK MANSIONS...and The RZA is also in the film

Paul Walker can take one photo and he can use it for all his past, current and upcoming movies. I'm a T-shirt and jeans guy myself, but if I was a movie star, I'd try to mix it up a bit.

Not much of a Parkour guy. I can only take as much of what was shown at the beginning of Casino Royale. =D

Did you just hear that? It was the sound of my interest waning.

A remake just seems pointless, if David Belle is on board then why not just get Cyril Raffaelli too and make a third District 13 movie?

Because Fast and Furious stars sell more tickets. That's the executives talkin, not me.

The RZA is playing the villain of the film, the gang boss who has the warhead. Catalina Denis plays David Belle's girlfriend (not sister as in the original) who is kidnapped by RZA's character.

Shooting commenced in May (didn't even know) and is now in post-production.

Here were some on-set pics

David Belle, Gouchy Boy (who's playing K2) and Paul Walker.

The seventh instalment began filming in September but has not been completed. It had been scheduled for release in July.

Walker has also filmed Hurricane Katrina drama Hours, which is due to be released on 13 December.

Another forthcoming film is Brick Mansions, a remake of the French action film District B13, for film studio Relativity.

Fast 7 will be last movie by the look of it.

Yes, they had filmed Brick Mansions in the spring. It is now in post-production..will not be surprised if Besson and crew dedicate the film in Walker's memory.
