Member DiP Posted September 15, 2011 Member Share Posted September 15, 2011 During a press conference of Life Without Principle in Venice, Johnnie To stated that he is currently developing the next installment of the Election movies, with the story taking place several years after the events of Election 2. http://s6.zetaboards.com/FilmSmash/topic/8766257/1/#new
Member Travis Posted September 16, 2011 Member Share Posted September 16, 2011 I just saw the first 2 and hated them, especially the first one. Johnnie To's films are pretty hit or miss for me.

Member Travis Posted September 16, 2011 Member Share Posted September 16, 2011 You don't really need to see the first one first. The first one is mainly about Simon Yam. Louis Koo is in the film very briefly just to kind of set up his character for part 2. The first Election film is extremely slow moving and boring. The franchise wasn't just focusing on one current/aspiring leader in each movie but also how the whole mob system in Hong Kong/China works. The latter is a ground for how the characters are going to take decisions and respond to that system as they run it. There's more to the movies than just violence.
