Ah man... this company brings back memories. Used to rent stuff, put out by Rainbow, from Asian Video Stores back in the 80s. Sometimes stuff didn't even have subs!

I might be wrong, but didn't this company become Tai Seng?

Tai Seng just threw stickers on a bunch of their releases and called them their own. Not only Rainbow but all those old Chinatown labels! Pan-Asia, World Video & Supply, etc etc.

Anyway, all of those labels released OODLES of stuff.

The Rainbow tapes I have are :

HOGUS POGUS

WHERE'S OFFICER TUBA

DEAD AND THE DEADLY, THE

MAGNIFICENT BUTCHER, THE

ISLAND, THE

HAUNTED MADAM, THE

FUNNY GHOST

MIDDLE MAN

18 BRONZEMEN

PRODIGAL SON, THE

ASSOCIATION, THE

I am working on my VHS tape list !

I had their complete 1988 catalog at one time. Wish I'd held onto it. They released every major Hong Kong studio release of the 70s and 80s, except for Shaw Bros., where they only released a batch of 1960s films like ONE ARMED SWORDSMAN and MONKEY GOES WEST. Subtitles were never consistent, and most tapes were dead center/cropped transfers, often using worn Chinatown prints.

The library I work in recently purged most of their VHS collection but they have 3 Rainbow titles:

BEWARE OF PICKPOCKETS

THE OCCUPANT

PEKING OPERA BLUES

(we have a ton of Asian cinema at my job)
