Member AlbertV Posted April 18, 2011 Member Share Posted April 18, 2011 I saw this recent Korean comedy and it is truly one of the funniest Korean films I have seen. It is about these two prisoners, one a bread thief whose constant escape attempts extends his sentence and the other a con artist who misses his girlfriend. When the thief takes 6 years to dig a hole that leads to a potential escape, the con artist follows him. The duo think they finally have it made... ...until they see the list of the Independence Day Amnesty. This is the day where certain prisoners, based on good behavior, are released. When the duo find their names on the list, they do whatever they can to go back to jail!!!! As if that's not complicated enough, the con artist learns his girlfriend has been engaged to get married...to a cop!!! Kim Sang-Jin directed this film and it was great. The film also involves a visit to the prison by the governor, thus resulting in the prisoners having to do hard labor and eventually going on the brink of madness when they must clean everything to make a good impression. Has a lot of slapstick style humor that culminates into something similar to the climax of Kim's hit film ATTACK THE GAS STATION! (1999)
