Guest Markgway
How long does the full uncut Cantonese version last (@ 24fps)? I have 102m in my notes but online sources claim 97m. I don't remember where I got 102m from.... so it might be bogus info. Also how much (and what exactly) is cut from The Warrior from Shaolin (English dub version of COWG)? Thanks. Member panku Posted March 28, 2011 Member Share Posted March 28, 2011 There is a fan project that matches the widescreen picture from the Japanese dvd (1:36:16 - 96:16) with the audio from the Tai Seng. When the audio reverts to Cantonese, you can tell which scenes were cut from the Tai Seng. The Tai Seng runs about 84 minutes and is fullscreen. I don't know if the Japanese DVD is a fully uncut print of the film, though.
Member kaleyboy Posted March 28, 2011 Member Share Posted March 28, 2011 The Japanese DVd runs 96 mins. We used it to make our sub & dub version: http://fusubs.blogspot.com/2010/04/carry-on-wise-guy.html
Guest Markgway
Duration: 96 minutes NTSC Region free Right, so assuming the Japanese print is fully uncut (and they usually are) 96m is the uncut run time. Where the hell did I get 102m from?? I guess this means the Ocean Shores dub released in the UK was uncut: http://www.bbfc.co.uk/AVV075620 ...and the reissue a PAL edition http://www.bbfc.co.uk/BVV075620

On a side note: I know there is a boot print of Carry On Wise Guy in the Gordon Liu Four Film Collection. I didn't check the time, but I will if you are interested. I guess we will not discuss the commentary on the Tai Seng Warrior from Shaolin release .
Guest Markgway
Hong Kong Film Archive lists it at 102 minutes. Ah, that's obviously where I got the info from... lol So anyone know of a version that's 102 mins or are the HKFA mistaken? On a side note: I know there is a boot print of Carry On Wise Guy in the Gordon Liu Four Film Collection. I didn't check the time, but I will if you are interested. Sure, thanks. I guess the 84m version must've only been released in the US and we in the UK got it 'uncut'.

The Videoasia release comes in at 94 minutes and 20 seconds (according to two different softwares).
Guest Markgway
The Videoasia release comes in at 94 minutes and 20 seconds (according to two different softwares). That seems to be give or take the normal version.
