Member BlackLamaFaction Posted February 17, 2011 Member Share Posted February 17, 2011 I was under the impression these films have not been released on DVD not even in Japan. My copies of the four movies are obvious VHS transfers dubbed in English, and not much to look at frankly. Today I noticed these on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iULfW4_FlbY and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQsdwO133Bo They seem like remastered versions. Does anyone know the source of these and if they are available?
Member Takuma Posted February 17, 2011 Member Share Posted February 17, 2011 Most likely Japanese TV broadcasting. There's no dvd releases available.
Member chanbara Posted February 17, 2011 Member Share Posted February 17, 2011 Yes, at least one of them aired on Japanese cable a couple years ago and was subsequently custom subbed by www.kurotokagi.com and released as Blind Swordswoman: Hellish Skin (see Samurai Movies A-E)
Member BlackLamaFaction Posted February 18, 2011 Author Member Share Posted February 18, 2011 Thanks to you both for the info... The Kurotokagi version looks like it is part 2: "Crimson Bat, Trapped" which along with the first movie are my favorites of the series, so i'm going to jump on that. As far as the other films hopefully someday they will be remastered and put out, but I've yet to hear any plans or even rumors suggesting that is going to happen. ....Which I find terribly disappointing. Member chanbara Posted February 18, 2011 Member Share Posted February 18, 2011 There was also a follow-up TV series that ran from April 12, 1971 to September 27, 1971.
Member De Ming Li Posted May 26, 2017 Member Share Posted May 26, 2017 Apologies for digging up this old thread, but does anybody know what's the "extended version" on this German DVD set? https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01D5KI3KK/ref=pe_108241_193829821_em_1p_2_ti
