Guest Wim C
The Offscreen Film Festival in Brussels will show a series of Shaw Brothers-films on the big screen - all on vintage 35mm prints with the original dubs and English subtitles. Some of these prints are the last surviving 35mm sources, save from the negatives in the vaults at Celestial - so it's a really unique opportunity if you live somewhere close to Brussels. The full program can be found on the festivals website : http://www.offscreen.be There's a lot more besides the Shaws - but here's a rundown of the Shaw films : 17 feb at 20:00 - 36th Chamber of Shaolin 17 feb at 22:00 - Eight Diagram Pole Fighter 18 feb at 20:00 - The Avenging Eagle 18 feb at 22:00 - Human Lanterns 19 feb at 20:00 - Intimate Confessions of a Chinese Courtesan 19 feb at 22:00 - Five Element Ninjas 19 feb at 23:59 - The Boxer's Omen 21 feb at 19:00 - Lecture on Shaw Brothers and King Hu by Tony Rayns 21 feb at 20:00 - Come Drink with Me So - yeah ! Member KyFi Posted January 30, 2011 Member Share Posted January 30, 2011 That's awesome. I wish I could see more on the big screen. The only ones I've seen are: 36th Chamber of Shaolin (old print) Golden Swallow (Celestial restored) Come Drink with Me (Celestial restored)
Member bobo Posted January 30, 2011 Member Share Posted January 30, 2011 i wonder if HUMAN LANTERNS has an english dub ? it always made the lost shaw dub list---and as we know the north american (IMAGE) release didn't have the dub. let's hope that if it does somehow somebody can get a copy. if nothing else it would prove that there is one .
