Member dog8food Posted December 22, 2010 Member Share Posted December 22, 2010 For whatever reason I like my Kung Fu with a side of humor. Recently I've found films such as Millionaire's Express, Kung Fu Scholar, and Spooky Encounters to be really entertaining. Can you help me out with some more recommendations (doesn't necessarily have to be a classic)?
Member Kennedy Il Sung Posted December 22, 2010 Member Share Posted December 22, 2010 Wheels on Meals, Dragons Forever, and Prodigal Son have some good comedy. I was also thinking of making a topic like this because I also have been getting in KF comedies, so I'll be interested in what others rec. Member Space Posted December 22, 2010 Member Share Posted December 22, 2010 Besides the aforementioned, here are some of my favorites: Snake in the Eagle's Shadow Drunken Master Magnificent Butcher Warriors Two Knockabout Odd Couple Dirty Tiger, Crazy Frog His Name is Nobody By Hook or by Crook Dead and the Deadly The Victim Project A My Lucky Stars Kickboxer (Yuen Biao) Shaolin Prince Fearless Hyena Spooky Encounters II Martial Arts of Shaolin And although it wasn't supposed to be funny, Game of Death II was so hilariously awful it has to count as a comedy. Member Jstn Posted December 22, 2010 Member Share Posted December 22, 2010 I found 'Treasure Hunters' quite humorous. Also 'Fearless Dragons' was funny and had some great kung fu.
Member Michael L. Posted December 22, 2010 Member Share Posted December 22, 2010 Off the top of my head, I'd recommend My Young Auntie, Royal Tramp I and II, Fong Sai Yuk I and II (not pure comedy, but a good amount) and Love On Delivery. Member ShaOW!linDude Posted December 22, 2010 Member Share Posted December 22, 2010 Wow, there's some good stuff on here. I'd add: Enter the Fat Dragon ---- Sammo Hung is funny and fu-y in this Twinkle, Twinkle, Lucky Stars ---- Chan, Hung, Biao (you'll love the end fight where Hung uses tennis rackets) The Iceman Cometh --- Yuen Biao has some really funny moments in this Miracles --- it's been mentioned already but to me this is one of Chan's best Shaolin Soccer --- no kung fu comedy collection is complete without this

Member Space Posted December 27, 2010 Member Share Posted December 27, 2010 Good Kung Fu Comedies..... isn't that an oxymoron?? Well, whatever...... OK, I've been here a long time and I've never asked...but what is it with the hardcore fans' general dislike of kung fu comedies? Is it the Cantonese sense of humor? Member TibetanWhiteCrane Posted December 27, 2010 Member Share Posted December 27, 2010 It's not about canto comedy or not. It's about funny comedy versus unfunny comedy. And I personally just happen to find the comedy in the old school KF flicks mindnumbingly unfunny, for the most part! Plus, from 78 to around 83 they made like a thousand flicks with the same damn unfunny jokes, gags and characters! I have nothing against canto comedy at all, it just has to be funny! The disco scene in Carry On Pickpocket.... now that is some shit!
Member ShaOW!linDude Posted December 27, 2010 Member Share Posted December 27, 2010 The disco scene in Carry On Pickpocket.... now that is some shit! Yeah, it is! So is the bit Sammo does in OWL VS BOMBO with the mannequin.

Member Cognoscente Posted June 12, 2021 Member Share Posted June 12, 2021 Lackey and the Lady Tiger is a good one. On the flip side, The Young Master set a new low for Kung Fu comedies in terms of the comedy. Jackie tried too hard to be funny with this movie so he went overboard with the casting, so we get a fat guy, a guy with a mohawk, a crossed-eyed guy, a guy whose face is the result of a stroke, and a boy urinating into a stream.
