For those that don't know this is pt.#2 to "Flags of our Fathers"

Warner Bros has wised up and has decided to push Clint Eastwood's Letters from Iwo Jima US release up two months to December 20th, just in time for Oscar consideration.

The film was orginally rumored to be released by the end of the year, however, many were disappointed when the studio announced that they would instead wait until February (a month studios are known to dump films which they have no faith in).

The film is set to be released on December 20th in New York and LA. No word on how wide the film will go or when it will expand.

Letter from Iwo Jima was shot in less than 35 days on a very low budget with an all Japanese cast led by Ken Watanabe and Shidô Nakamura.

Yeah, I may have to actually step into a theater again to see this; It is rare for me to go to a theaters these days.

Speaking of Shido Nakamura, he was also in another recent WW2 movie, Yamato:

It was really good to see Tatsuya Nakadai with a small, but extremely important role for that movie. The story is really about his character.
