Member AlbertV Posted November 23, 2010 Member Share Posted November 23, 2010 As we are nearing the end of 2010, I thought perhaps it would be a cool idea to think of what martial arts films we all know about that will be coming out in 2011. I can start a list and if anyone has titles, that would help too. THE GREEN HORNET - Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, Cameron Diaz, Christoph Waltz SHAOLIN - Andy Lau, Wu Jing, Nicholas Tse, Jackie Chan NEVER BACK DOWN 2 - Michael Jai White, Alex Meraz, Dean Geyer, Troy Duffee CHOY LI FUT - Sammo Hung, Sammy Hung, Kane Kosugi, Yuen Wah, Lau Kar-Wing THE LOST BLADESMAN - Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Chin Siu-Ho, Andy On WU XIA - Donnie Yen, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Jimmy Wang Yu, Tang Wei FLYING SWORDS OF DRAGON GATE - Jet Li, Zhou Xun Any others I forgot to mention

And isn't the Adkins/Van Damme project "Weapon" due for release next year, too?

Member sen_pai Posted November 23, 2010 Member Share Posted November 23, 2010 I can't wait. I thought I was ending the year with "True Legend" being the best, but "Reign of Assassins" topped the list. Hopefully movies will get better throughout the year. Indeed....you can't get better than the classic 'tied to a chair pissing like a dog' image when you're trying to sell a movie.

Member AlbertV Posted December 4, 2010 Author Member Share Posted December 4, 2010 I assume we will get at least three more Tapout movies. Well, the last few Tapout movies were actually not bad compared to the first ones that starred Hector Echavarria. With CIRCLE OF PAIN, BEATDOWN, and LOCKED DOWN, they began to improve a little bit. They cut down from making it half-softcore to about 15-20% nudity, but focus more on action and story. Let's hope the next batch is on that level or even more better. In my opinion a couple of minutes is more than enough and may be a few lingering flashes of nudity peppered throughout a movie. If you want more you may as well watch a porn movie, well I would rather that than watch some soft-core porn in the middle of an action film. Moderator One Armed Boxer Posted December 7, 2010 Moderator Share Posted December 7, 2010 Well, the last few Tapout movies were actually not bad compared to the first ones that starred Hector Echavarria. I think that sums up the Tapout movies pretty well....basically they all suck, it's just a case of the one which sucks the least. The best of a bad bunch if you will... Let's hope the next batch is on that level or even more better. I doubt you're going to be let down...."that level" is really not so difficult to reach, although if you've recently been subjecting yourself to the 'Thunderkick' movies, I fully understand how the Tapout movies must now seem like modern day masterpieces to you. Member blue_skies Posted December 20, 2010 Member Share Posted December 20, 2010 Albert I can't believe you didn't include Bangkok Knockout in your article for the 2011 martial-arts film report. Personally it's my most hotly anticipated film for 2011 but regardless of my individual taste, surely it has to be more anticipated by martial-arts fans than the kung-fu panda sequel or the sequel to a terrible teen martial-arts movie in Never Back Down 2 ! Member AlbertV Posted December 21, 2010 Author Member Share Posted December 21, 2010 Albert I can't believe you didn't include Bangkok Knockout in your article for the 2011 martial-arts film report. The reason why BANGOK KNOCKOUT didn't make the list is because I am listing release dates in their native countries (ie Hong Kong, Thailand, USA) and the film had opened in Thailand on December 5, 2010. But surely it's worth including since most people reading the article will be watching on DVD once available in 2011?
