Sint (2010) - From the Director of The Lift and Amsterdamned

There is a new horror film that was just released in the Netherlands. Following in the tradition of SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT, CHRISTMAS EVIL, and SANTA'S SLAY comes SINT.

SINT is directed by Dick Maas, the Dutch director who gained some international fame in the 80's with his films THE LIFT (the deadly elevator movie that he remade as THE SHAFT in 2001 with Ron Perlman and Naomi Watts) and one of my personal favorites, AMSTERDAMNED (about a serial killer using the city's canals as his hiding spot).

SINT involves Saint Nick as a child murderer who returns when the full moon hits on December 5 (every 32 years) to hack and slash his way towards unsuspecting teens. His weapon? A scythe with its blade in the shape of a "S". The film just broke box office records in the Netherlands.

Playing the evil Saint Nick is one of Maas' favorite lead actors, Huub Stapel. Stapel played the hero in both THE LIFT and AMSTERDAMNED as well as starring in Maas' FLODDER series of comedic films.
