Member AlbertV Posted October 18, 2010 Member Share Posted October 18, 2010 While watching THE LEGEND OF BRUCE LEE on Saturday, I saw the trailer for Tapout's latest MMA film, a prison fight film called LOCKED DOWN coming out November 9. The film stars former world karate champion Tony Schiena (CIRCLE OF PAIN), Vinnie Jones, Bai Ling, and MMA stars Kimbo Slice, Rashad Evans, and Forrest Griffin. The film revolves around a framed police officer played by Schiena who goes to prison and ends up fighting in a fight ring orchestrated by Jones. With the help of a former MMA champion, the cop must fight not only to survive, but prove his innocence. B-rDlw1_upc

Member ShaOW!linDude Posted October 18, 2010 Member Share Posted October 18, 2010 Yeah, I.............don't know. I've watched some of Tapout's stuff and I'm mildly interested in seeing the last one they put out with Rudy Youngblood. But this.............yeah, I don't know. I'm just not real impressed with Tapout's stuff. I mean, if they've switched from Hector E. to this Tony guy, they're obviously looking to find a breakout star to give their franchise some cred other than simply being known for having MMA fighters in their films. Hector never really impressed me and I've never seen this Tony Schiena in anything so I can't really say yea or nay. Think I'll wait and let one of you guys check this out and see what you say. I think I'm down with Drunken Monk on this even though he is.....well......drunk.
Member AlbertV Posted October 18, 2010 Author Member Share Posted October 18, 2010 I liked this better when it was called "Undisputed 2." or better yet the Hallmark film "Ring of Death" with Johnny Messner. LOL The problem with Hector's films were that he needs to learn how to use better angles and cuts when it comes to choreography. Not to mention that for the most part, his films were half-MMA, half-Cinemax late night softcore porn. Now, Tony Schiena was in the Van Damme film WAKE OF DEATH, but didn't get to do much. His Tapout debut, CIRCLE OF PAIN was way better than the Hector films. Schiena also appeared in a film called THE NUMBER ONE GIRL and this new film reunites him with Vinnie Jones. I think Schiena is originally from South Africa and was a world karate champion. Here's some of Tony's clips when he was on the karate circuit B2swP8-jDqA fT4mJs1y_ec
Member Charuto Posted October 18, 2010 Member Share Posted October 18, 2010 This whole project disgusts me. Especially Bai Ling.
Member Studio 53 Posted October 20, 2010 Member Share Posted October 20, 2010 I think it looks good.. Kind of a throwback to the Van Damme days! Hope we will get to see more from Tony, he was great in Wake of Death and definitely deserve a good vehicle!

I thought he was a little wasted in THE NUMBER ONE GIRL, but really got to show his mettle in CIRCLE OF PAIN. With the exception of Bai Ling (who I can't really stand), it will be interesting to see him reunite with Vinnie Jones in a film where he could get to show his mettle again. I think Rashad Evans is taking the role of the lead bad boy fighter.
